Prince's heartfelt message about Paisley Park Found this audio clip on Facebook. Apparently it's from his last show in Amsterdam. When Prince says in my house we take care of one another and when you come to my house I need you to take care of it...I just lose it. Then I really lose it when he says "Next time we see each other it's going to be at Paisley Park". I noticed several times on his 2014/2015 tour he asks the crowd to come to his house. I find it interesting that he was being so sentimental about Paisley Park. I know he's invited the public in before but this seemed different. Just a weird (now sad) feeling.

just tonight I was speaking to someone who knew someone who'd visited PP, they saw P just lounging around outside so they asked him "why do you let people come into your house and mess it up?" He said "it wouldn't matter, they'd do it anyway". I don't think that's true, I believe he opened his place simply because he enjoyed it, of course there were downsides, people stealing shit and fucking shit up but a man as private as Prince wouldn't have done it for no reason. He must have loved having them there. And yes, that is a huge contradiction when we know what we know about the man. No star of his calibre has ever opened up his place of residence-work-business-play to the public in that way.

Agreed, he should have done even more of it and probably would have. A lot better for him than closing himself off from everyone. The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!

He wasn't talking about Paisley Park literally, it seems to me - at least not as his speech went on. . [Edited 9/4/16 3:23am]

Wowww...I've just thought...He never went back to Amsterdam before he died, right? And we KNOW he often used PP as a metaphor for a heavenly utopia (as per the song - see my post above this one)...

It's still freaky and had me in tears when I heard it, "especially when he said if you come to my house I need you to take care of it". Paisley Park is in your heart

I've been thinking about his tweet the Sunday after his Friday accidental overdose on the plane. He tweeted controversy about the news item. I thought it was "I just can't believe all the things people say". But now I think he meant "some people wanna die so they can be free ..." Playing Russian roulette with illicit street meds? Gee Prince I am so gonna beat your ass when I meet you one day 1000 light years from here. This brings to mind a couple things.. First, he was getting older and the physical and monetary costs of touring was no doubt expensive. He seemed to be going to war with ticket scalping services, too. Perhaps he saw more benefit in asking people to come to PP than traveling the world. He could guarantee others a more complete experience in his home, and prepare PP to become more well known (as a museum). Plus he would be doing a lot of good for the local economy. Second (finally), OP seems to be in the "Prince knew" camp. Prince my have been hinting he knew he wasn't going to be around. IIRC - there was an orger who wrote that Joshua had a slip of the lip, cryptically saying a portion of PP (the egg?) would remain closed until "after..." Who knows. Perhaps Prince indeed knew and was preparing for this day all along.

He said something similar during one of the piano shows in Auckland. "This time I came to you, next time, you can come to me. You're all welcome at Paisley Park." Something like that. He also said "This is the first time I've played here. It certainly won't be the last." So I don't know how much to read into it, or what to take away from it.

But would he have opened it up while he was still living there? Paisley Park is in your heart

I never thought Prince fans would have so much in common with Tupac fans. I don't know what to make of his statements onstage, but they could very well be intentionally indecipherable.

I came across this Prince tweet from 2015. I wonder if this is something he was seriously considering... Paisley Park is in your heart

well as Prince's song goes. Paisley Park is always in your heart! So I think he meant both literally PP if he had of lived long enough to do more shows but I think he also meant it in a spiritual sense as well. I do not think there is a wrong answer in this either way you slice it!

Paisley Park was indeed a "heavenly" place for Prince. That was his "happy place", where all his dreams came true. His spirit will be there, always.
