Siskel & Ebert - Purple Rain (The Best of 1984) This is a recap of the best movies of 1984 from Siskel & Ebert At The Movies, and their mentions of Purple Rain. They compare how Paul McCartney had a sham of a rock movie, whereas Purple Rain had a love interest, a story line, sensitivity, and great rock music. They compare the similarities between Saturday Night Fever and PR's storyline. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Thanks for posting this. Loved this! If only we could turn back time to back then! Eventually every cloud runs out of rain.

So funny that Gene Siskal compared Purple Rain to Saturday Night Fever. They had another thing in common that he didn't mention (because it hadn't happened yet): both of them had sequels (Graffiti Bridge and Staying Alive) that sucked hard. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Even sadder to realize that Siskel and Ebert and Prince are all gone. "Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."
