Yeah she would, she is the co creator of the song and has writing credits.
She decided to do it when she realized someone else was doing the same thing. Trying to make money off of the song. So I'm all for her doing it. And anyone else from any time with Prince who were co creator/co writer or the meat of the song came from their lives.
That is like people being upset if the Revolution or NPG wants to see an unreleased album released soon. And people call them money grubbers. Yet bootleggers can make album art cd cases and sell and make money off the same unreleased albums yet no one accuses them of being money grubbers.

Does she have writers credit? Does she own half lthe copywrite on the song? Because Prince would put people's names on the song but they were not registered as co-writers. Has Susan ever received a royalty check? Prince called bootleggers money grubbers all the time. We are seeing the true colors of some of his protegees and maybe Prince was not wrong to cut some of them off. | |

If he banned them how come Bobby Z said he was out a few years ago. They apparently stayed in touch. I would think after he child died and his marriage went bad he would be in a dark mood.
Honestly some of you act like he was not a human being. | |

why did U reply to my question to them being banned? I'm asking PeteS when this happened, because I knew nothing of it. he had BrownMark there to do a few songs for his album in 89 he was going to have the Revolution during the PP Celebrations 99 but only Bobby Z Fink and Mark could go etc etc etc | |

Who knows but she performed with him on Tabis Smiley and at the Brits so it couldn't have bothered him too much that she was a lesbian. Paisley Park is in your heart

Maybe she was going up and down. If someone offends you why keep hanging around them. | |

Her comments about turning the Revolution into a soul revue is just stupid. The base of his music was RnB. Why are you in that band if you do not get it.
Her fancy lesibian comments WTF
Bitching at your boss and being shocked when you are actually fired.
To be gay and keep working with someone that you say is homophobic. I doubt he was homophobic she was just one of many lesibians he worked with and maybe she was just the one that got on his last nevre. | |

2 different things. Prince said from the start he never wanted to be catagorized. She wasn't talking about the music obviously. I mean on the Parade tour they were doing music from Controversy 1999 Purple Rain ATWIAD & Parade.

TOMMY BARBARELLA: Our last real long conversation was a spiritual discussion that went awry. It left kind of a bad taste in my mouth. He’s just not interested in things that aren’t in accordance with his views. He likes to argue, and he likes to win the argument, which is why [his current religion] seems to work well for him. But he’s searching, trying to make sense of it all, trying to get right with God. I’m cool with it as long as I don’t get into an argument with him, because he’s a very persuasive speaker. I sat up in his office the day after his name change. He talked for about three hours, explaining to me what it meant and why. I walked out of there feeling pretty good. It made sense to me. Later that night, I was like, “What? Wait a minute. What did he say?” | |

“Under the Cherry Moon” had its premiere in July 1986 in Sheridan, Wyo. — a site chosen in an MTV contest. WENDY MELVOIN: It was like being on Mars. I don’t know if it was the greatest marketing scheme, [but] the show at the Holiday Inn was fierce. That night I had a huge blowout with Prince. I was at the bar having a beer with Joni Mitchell. An interviewer came up to me and the next day in some paper, it said: “Wendy from Prince and the Revolution answering blah blah blah while nursing a Budweiser.” Prince pulled me upstairs and read me out about being an example to kids. I was completely floored. It felt like something else was wrong here. It’s not about me drinking a beer. “Cherry” was a bomb with critics and filmgoers. Prince’s last show with the Revolution came in September at Yokohama Stadium in Japan.

i read it somewhere, maybe even on here, it's hard to remember when you read from so many different sources. the revolution was not allowed into paisley park, i thought that was fairly well known here, i guess not. and i don't know the time frames of that or when it began or ended. | |

did a quick search and all i could find on here was that mark was banned from 90-94 for some reason, it may have been in Alan Lights book that I read that the revolution was banned. to my knowledge, he never had a problem with fink or bobby, brown mark had a million grievances and it sounded like Prince was talking about him in that deleted interview when he said someone sold a coat of his that was stolen during the purple rain shoot. of course wendy and lisa had a million grievances. | |

He was a complicated individual for sure. He lived in a bubble. His version of reality was a bit skewed. His behavior in the 90's could make me squirm at times. All the women he simultaneously was screwing. Living in the Minneapolis area you meet folks over the years who have personal Prince stories. Some of them are heartwarming. For example his amazing generosity and kindness when a random employee at PP lost a family member. Some of them are shocking. For example his at times complete lack of appreciation for the things people did for him. I tried not to get too wrapped up in all that and just worship him from a safe distance. I do believe he passed without resolving some misdeeds done to others. But that was his choice. Disappointing sure, but he was a grown man, with ample intelligence to make up his own mind about how to live his life. I respect that. His boyhood and family situation was chaotic. He gets a bit of a pass for that as well in my book. It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN | |

I did read that there was a period he didn't want anyone saying any of their names. I don't know if that is what it was, But I know he was still talking to Lisa & Wendy while they were recording their first album and talking to them about the video for Waterfalls.
BASS PLAYER His Highness Gets Down!
Starting with 1982’s 1999, Prince began crediting a band, the Revolution, on his recordings. Though he still played many of the parts, over the next few albums the Revolution played an increasingly important role. "I wanted community more than anything else. These days if I have Rhonda [S., formerly The Artist’s primary live bassist] play on something, she’ll bring in her Jaco influence, which is something I wouldn’t add if I played it myself. I did listen to Jaco -- I love his Joni Mitchell stuff -- but I never wanted to play like him." The Artist still raves about the original Revolution bassist, Brown Mark (who took over for Andre Simone), calling him the tightest bass player next to Graham himself.

he was right about mark, he could play that bass, his personality was actually the opposite of what you'd expect, just seemed like a mama's boy, very diffident and shy in the interviews and readings I've done. I've also always thought that Prince had that black self hatred in those years and took it out on mark. black people might sometimes have a lot of enmity for white people but there is often a lot of respect if not outright fear of white people, and so we have tragic phenomenon's like black on black crime where all the shit you're getting dumped on you by society, you take out on each other. | |

I was at the revolution show this past fri nite and mark was truly present at the gig, and in the moment. He put his heart and soul into every song, and was engaging with the audience. He also made it known that the show was all about honoring Prince and an opportunity for them along with all of us there to pay our respects to Prince. If there was any bad blood between them it was not evident in mark's words or actions. It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN | |

A shy person or a more withdrawn person (and bass players for some reason always seem to be like that) in the company of someone like Prince who like to kid people and mess with, I always thought Prince had a 'maternal' covering of Mark
| |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
he also drop kicked him onstage for breaking a string and did a lot of other more paternal things to mark. in pop life mark says he had such a bad time on the 1999 tour that he wanted to quit mid-tour and he called his momma, started drinking a lot and gained weight. however, he was like 19, when i had my first real job i felt like that too. | |

I agree with most of this. Except for the part about his boyhood and family situation. Yes, it affected him but plenty of people have had worse childhoods and have risen above the ashes. When you become an adult, a lot of the decisions are based on your previous experiences as an Adult. It doesn't always have to go back to the "childhood". | |

I will say this. Wendy and Lisa have always had a lot to say about Prince through the years and most of it wasn't kind. [Edited 9/7/16 6:33am] | |

--- He surived he the music industry for almost 40 years. Do you think he did that by being nice? As far as the woman are concerned do not be naive some of them were hanging around to get something out of him. I am sure he never forced any of these grown ass woman to do something they did not want to do. I am also sure he had some real relationships that we the public will never know about at all. Wendy and Lisa would not have had a carreer without Prince and what was going in his personal life really was none of their business. | |
