i love the natural man, don't need makeup, fancy hair or costumes....we know he don't need anything to cover him up. he had a hard time when he first started out but learned quick to use an angle to get the attention he needed to break through. Thank God he never gave up that angle!

I wonder why he decided to wear makeup? Because a lot of the 80's were glam? & once he started, it was his "look"? He was so beautiful, he didn't need it. Also, gotta give him props for sticking to commando! He had a lot to be proud of!

I think he received a lot of attention from the media because he simply looked beautiful with makeup, he didn't try to make himself look like a clown like some of the other men of that time. Also, it attracted women, like his heels did - beauty attracts male and female, he used that to his advantage.

I am concerned as I think it may have confused him a bit, almost like he lost a bit of his true self to that stage persona. Can you imagine from a young age, the "public" LOVING you because of what you put out on stage? The only way to get that affirming love, attention and respect is by ONLY being that personality on the stage all the time?

I hope I am wrong. I am feeling especially sad right now - it's hitting me hard this time round.

That's so weird that u just said that. I was looking at pics and thinking about his "public" persona on stage and his real self off stage. I think a lot of musicians have that on-stage persona. & as I was looking at pics and gifs, I always get sad, so feelin ya. But I don't want to be sad here since it's our happy place. & I really want to try to be happy.
