"It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night" performance in the "Sign O' the Times" film

Let's express our love for the "It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night" performance in the "Sign O' The Times" film.

Prince's awesome vocals and incredible dance moves.

The rap by Sheila E.

Prince taking over the drums.

Cat & Sheila E.'s dance moves.

Bonnie Boyer's background vocals.

The way all band members move to the funky beat.

The way it was filmed.

Please share your love for this classic performance.

The version in the film is much better than the album cut.

The album cut is also good, but the version in the film takes it to a different & much better level...

That was one of my absolute faves from the film!!! I watch that almost every day. Wish I could find the movie now. Hopefully it becomes available again.

I agree. If anyone has heard the SOTT rehearsals, folks will hear not only a vastly different set list but the album tempo'd version of IGBABN. Then suddenly, not only did the setlist change, but so did the tempo of that song.

There's a great groove pocket you can get in with the original. It's more of a funk workout, a marathon. The film seems more like a sprint to get through it. I remember being a little disappointed when I saw the film, with the faster tempo.

However, each works in their own arena. The original version works well in the scope of the album, and the faster tempo seems to fit the feel of the tour as a whole, and the film. I still go to the album version as my default.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

It's going to be amazing when screened to coincide with the upcoming official tribute!

Yes, it has. Check out the fan gatherings forum. A double feature of "Sign O' The Times" & "Under the Cherry Moon" and a separate screening of both "Purple Rain" & "Graffitti Bridge". It's going to be like a Prince Film Festival! Check it out.
