Electric Intercourse mysteries Electric Intercourse is one of my favourite songs. For a long time, there are three things I've wondered about that song. Two of those mysteries were solved today. First, where and when was my favourite version of the song recorded. I got it as a standalone song, then as part of a bootleg that didn't list the source. Second, where was the elusive "wake up Wendy" version. I was always curious about that. I had two other versions from that rehearsal, just not that one.
Some of you know where I'm going with this.
I finally got my hands on what I thought was the "wake up Wendy" version. Put it on, and within a few seconds, realized nope, it was the one I already had. Cranked it up to sing along and ...
... nearly jumped out of my damn skin when P yelled WAKE UP, WENDY!
Yeah, as the now-giggling old-timers already know, it turns out that I had an edited version of that take all along. Google tells me Tim D'Aquino stripped out the Wendy line and some other stuff because it interrupted the flow of the song. Seeing as how I heard the edited version first and came to love it, I can't complain. Though I'm kind of surprised that, once he was doing this anyway, he left in the "yes I will". I mean, if he was going for uninterrupted flow and all. That line is cute and funny but at first I found it to be kind of a mood killer. Now I think it's adorable. Just wondering about his editing choices.
OK now I'm giggling at how I jumped. Scared the crap out of me!
So, two mysteries solved. That leaves the third. Hoping y'all can help me get a hat trick. Why oh why is there not a single place that lists the correct lyrics? It's CLEARLY "wire" and "current", not "wild" and "courage". It's been discussed to death around here with no argument. Is there not one lyrics site that accepts corrections? Has no one ever submitted them? Is there not a fam-run lyrics page somewhere? Is it out there and I'm just missing it? Is it just an in joke? What gives?!? Inquiring minds want to know! Gimme some horns ... uh! |
