Last Live song

What was the last song you saw Prince play live, before he left the stage, without us knowing it would be the last time you would see him.
Mine was 'Sometimes it snows in April' in Paris, June 1st 2014. The second of two shows I saw that day.

Purple Rain, Sydney Opera House 20th Feb 2016 (2nd show)

Amazing vocal performance, full of emotion.

Didn't even notice there was no guitar solo...

The last song I heard him play live was a song I've heard a million times before...just never the way he played it that last ime.

I'm guessing it was PR at the Fillmore, SF, 2014... The only reason I'm guessing is because the setlist on Prince Vault doesn't seem quite right to me, I could SWEAR he started with "Wow", but he usually ends the night w/ PR so...

Cause And Effect at this show:

.
One of the best nights of my life. I told my wife that when I got home but I don't think she was best pleased after only just given birth to our daughter a week earlier.
.
But it really was, to be so up close in a small venue and he played a great varied set. I listen to the boot regularly

Me too, I was at those 2 shows. I had bought my tickets for Antwerp as the Paris show wasn't announced. When I was in Belgium I couldn't get the tickets. Managed to get 1 for the 1st show from a fan and then got my 2nd ticket from a forum while queing for the first show. I am so happy I didn't miss those shows. Looking at the footage from Tidal again, it's was wonderful show.

Play That Funky Music (White Boy) in the Melkweg in Amsterdam in 2011. Kinda fitting, because playing funky music is what he did all his life and this white boy was and still is loving it. biggrin

"Cool" - London charity show, Koko, Feb 2015.....

Hindsight is 20/20 but I said at the time that something didn't "feel right" about that show to me..... markedly different than the 3 times I had seen him the previous year.

Was on the phone to the Birmingham venue trying to learn how I could get advance tickets to the P&AM Birmingham show in late 2015, but then the terror attack in Paris happened and the Euro leg was cancelled......

I listen back to it all the time. He's howling like a dog that's been kicked. Putting it in the context of the pain he was in at the time (Vanity had just died/ his hip) it's incredibly sad.

Me, too! I'm glad you remembered it, since it was a pretty emotinal end-of-concert with the Stevie Wonder jam session at the end, and I couldn't remember which song he played last at that show of that night--it was so cool, and fulfilling on several levels for me. cool

Chasing

Shepherds Bush Empire February 2014, "BAMBI" - bloody amazing - best Prince concert I have ever seen (and I have seen a fair few) - blew me away and I was four rows from the front, standing, and above me, George Clinton. Way to end it all for me, amazing.

I was there and the setlist doesn't exactly sync with my memory either. After the second show Prince played some recordings of new music and peeped around the curtain shyly to see our reactions... One of the songs was "The Breakdown." Those two shows seem like the only ones not bootlegged that year...

OMG, I'm just glad to finally hear someone else confirm that the setlist seems off!!!! lol What I would give to know what it really was, or to have that show on boot... but it was my only time seeing him w/ 3EG, & starting with WOW is etched into my brain. nod

I didn't see him peeking, wish I would have!!! lol Were you one of the lucky ones to see him at the Boom Boom Room later that morning? I hear he played until 5am or so, still kicking myself for missing that!!! fit

I was tempted to go but I was dead tired after two shows at the Fillmore. Employees kept telling people in line to drop into the Boom Boom Room afterwards. lol Wink, wink! I would kill to have these shows on boot... We should check the old org threads for the setlist. My memory ain't what it used to be... razz

Mine was Gett Off (Housestyle) at the Hippodrome nightclub, London, Aug 27 1998.

I so wish he never cancelled the London shows at the theatres late 2015 (due to ticket touts) as I was ready that morning to buy my ticket for that same month.
