That's ridiculous. The estate has been ordered to monetize itself, so it can start earning money. Those taxes will be paid off within a year. MJ had huge debts, and his was paid off in a relatively short amount of time after he passed away.

I dont think this will be necessary, I will pay for the next release and that money will help with the estate and his legacy. Nice gesture though

The big tax billl that is coming due is FEDERAL, not Carver County.

On top of that - you have massive money earners like Sinead's cover of NC2U, Chaka's cover of I Feel For You, and Manic Monday. Those songs bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars in royalties every single year. On top of that, Prince had, what, $30-50 million dollars worth of property, which is all gonna get sold except for Paisley and the Purple Rain house. Hell, the 130 or however many acres on Galpin Blvd is worth $13 million alone.

On top of that you've got movie royalties from sales of Purple Rain, Under The Cherry Moon, SOTT, Graffiti Bridge. It's only a matter of time before we see Blu-Ray releases of Purple Rain Live and Lovesexy Dortmund. You've got the unreleased movies of The Second Coming and 3121/Lotusflow3r in the vault.

We could potentially be bearing witness, in 5 years, to seeing kids wearing the Love Symbol on t-shirts no matter where you go in the world. The same way you do with Nirvana and the Rolling Stones. And for those of us who've been on this purple ride for a long time - particularly those of us that remember the early 2000's, pre-Musicology, when nobody was really checking for Prince except us - it's gonna be weird as fuck. Prince knew that himself - see his quote about how all his music would be released somebody, even if he wasn't the one to do it.

But it's not "others" - it's his family. And surely, as fans, we want him to be remembered? I know I do. I want the whole world to know, just as we know, how much of a genius he was, because they damn sure didn't appreciate him enough when he was here. Successful management of the Estate will achieve that - and yes, it will generate a ton of money in the process. You can't have one, without the other.
