Just an old song, but so much meaning. Now Prince has joined all the great voices who left us too

Karl Wallinger — the guy that co-wrote "Whole of The Moon" — is one of my all-time favorite songwriters. You can tell he is a Prince fan.
I'm convinced he intentionally writes tunes that evokes thoughts of Prince...
But he writes and plays in such a way that it doesn't sound like just a pastiche of Prince...
I really, really wish Wallinger and Prince would have collaborated on something!

Forever Young Bob Dylan, although it reminds me much more to Michael than Prince.

Oh Nursey - Night Shift is a real tearjerker, wah!
This is really reaching back but I always think of the Dells Stay in My Corner when I hear Nothing Compares 2 U. Think it would have made a great mash up.
Brand new boogie without the hero.

'You're History' (Shakespear's Sister), 1989, is soooo similar to 'Alphabet Street', I'm surprised P didn't have words!!!

No songs from other artists (outside of his associated ones) make me think of Prince. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

D'Angelo : The Charade (the structure of the intro reminds me of the one of 'Anotherloverholenyohead') ; great song, by the way.
Outkast : She lives in my lap (excellent song, seems a bit reminiscent of 'The ballad of Dorothy Parker')

Sign your Name by Terence Trent D'Arby came on the radio the other night and I suddenly started thinking of Prince a lot. It's a beautiful song and Terence's voice is incredible but I couldn't help thinking of Prince singing it and how good it would have sounded... Sade reminds me of Prince too. These were the artists I was listening to around the same time that I became a Prince fan, so they're connected with Prince in my memory. Life Matters

OMG Nursev, thanks for posting this video! I love this song! I then went down the Commodores YouTube Rabbit Hole.
Which then led me to Ohio Players. Which led me to Earth, Wind and Fire.... and I am singing September at the top of my lungs.

If I Die Young---by The Band Perry
A few lines in the song have me think of P, some are:
And maybe then you'll hear the words I been singin', Funny when you're dead how people start listenin'.... The ballad of a dove,
Go with peace and love....
I'm also feelin' Sign Your Name and Forever Young as well...!

Sweet Thing by Rufus and Chaka Khan. It makes me think of a 17/18 year old Prince recording his first demos (listening to his acoustic take since he passed is both beautiful and devastating), and it also makes me think of that wonderful performance for the Musicology special where he turned the microphone towards the crowd and had them sing whilst he played guitar. Lurking since '07

Sense Of Humour - by Darren Hayes. I love that song anyway Pre-April 21, it didn't but recently most of the lyrics of that song only seem to remind me so much of Prince. Dance where y'are, just groove y'all.

Since Prince passed I have been listening to Sananda Maitreya (aka Terence Trent Darby) so much...Knowing he is around and still making good music (the voice is still amazing) gives me a comfort.

"Hella Good" by No Doubt and "Slave 4 U" by Britney Spears always reminded me of Prince.

He's got some killer tunes. She Kissed Me being my absolute fave.
But hearing his voice always triggers an involuntary tickly sensation on the back of my larynx that makes me feel like I need to clear my throat.
I get the same reaction when I hear Rod Stewart, and that guy from The Stereophonics
