RT? They have UNRELEASED in the vault. They can focus on giving access to things that have already been released and making available everything everywhere - then they can do vualt releases a few times a year - hell we'll be set for the next 50 years....

Make everything available on itunes. EVERYTHING.

Your 30+ years behind on boots so just forget about that and give everyone who pays for music the opportunity to purchase high quality audio/video. Make it easy make it affordable and make it happen asap.

I would buy every single show he ever did if it were released in high quality video maybe in 'digital box sets'. ?

How about a yearly rlease that compiles all of Princes work in that year - ie: 1979: tours aftershows one offs releases ....

you've got 40 years worth of stuff - get busy on that and stop chasing down whats already out there.

People still buy Elvis - They will buy Prince - focus on the people who WILL BUY.

I will travel to Paisely to see 'concerts screenings' of select shows - it would be like he's rt there playing live - they can draw people to the museum like the Pink Floyd show at the Hayden Planetarium in NYC

Ive seen the Hayden Plaetarium shows so many times I lost count - its not like there isnt an outlet in other ways for Princes music...

They should hire me - I got ideas!!! smile

--- They are not going to be able to put stuff out until the estate gets settled. We already witnessed that the public does not buy music when they can get it for free. Making an effort to stop bootlegging is actually a responsibility of the adminstrator to monetize the estate.

They have an enternity to work on finding and slowing bootlegging. And fwiw they are paid well to do it. How about they focus on the positive aspects of when things will be released for the people who want to buy? Im saying FOCUS ON THE CUSTOMERS, AND LEAVE THE CUSTOMERS OUT OF RUNNING THE DAMN BUSINESS.

I want to buy Princes music. I'm tired of hearing bout Princes business and the sad ass music business troubles in general. Handle it and just let me be the customer. FOCUS ON THE PEOPLE WHO BUY.

Sorry Londell but no.

Prince fans like bootlegs.

I'm against people selling burned CDs on ebay/amazon etc... especially when they're so vastly over-priced. But I like being able to see so much live stuff on youtube.

I'm not about to start reporting fans who want to share their love of Prince, so that Londell and his bickering family can line their pockets.

I think it's more important that the music is out there and can be enjoyed and shared. I'm far less concerned about preserving the wealth of people who contributed nothing to the creation of the music in question.

Kind of... but not quite. Unless the estate is planning on selling music in the quality of 3rd generation cassette tapes and audience recordings.

I mean if the estate decided to release a concert in soundboard quality but an audience recording is alread in circulation... so what? Nobody is going to stick with the crappy audience recording.

OK so here is the deal and I hope everyone understands. TO KEEP this legacy going there needs to be revenue, plain and simple. Now obviously there is not going to be any shows done, nor will there be new music, though you may get re-issues or never released stuff, NEW music will never be. SO they need all channels to keep this going, someone has got to pay the bills or stuff IS going to start closing down, like Paisley Park. Yes there is a new tour of it, and that will generate revenue but its going to take a lot to sort this man's "after life" out. If in fact there is no will, and no direction given, then you will have a hard time stopping anything. And that goes from crappy bootlegs to perfect quality stuff, to t shirts, to a lot of stuff I am seeing on amazon like live shows, radio broadcasts almost none of it is generating cash back to the source. SO it might not mean anything to a day to day person but if U really want to see certain things preserved and not sold off, like PP, then this was the warning signal. THAT Paisley tour might actually be a last chance for fans to see anything of the man before it is taken over for all we know.

I think it is a bit much to ask us to police ourselves, I just do. As far as keeping the legacy going, Paisley Park is going to have to become a self-sufficient situation. THe Hitsville-Motown museum is, so is the Stax and Graceland. The key to is is that this can't be a source of income for family and friends. THe board can't be made up of family and friends who can't contribute and raise funds.

Most importantly when the vast number of use go on the tour is October, it has to be right. Becasue we are going to comeback and tell everyone how it is.

Beautiful, Loved and Blessed

Thank You Prince

Exactly this!

If he wants to go after the people selling bootlegs and pirated copies of out of print material, more power to him. If he's looking for fans filesharing for free with other fans, he can fk off!

yeahthat

I'm pretty infuriated by those people being scammed buying bootlegs on Amazon and other sites believing they're buying legit products: even Deezer right now has more live bootlegs than official albums on their streaming service.

Now fans sharing stuff... One who manages to get links to that stuff is hardcore fan and therefore likely to buy any official release. It doesn't harm the business and if the estate releases the stuff officially for people to buy, there'll be no more need for fans sharing recordings nod

Do y'all think this could also be an opportunity for fans to get ahead of this process and express to the Estate what we would like to purchase and in what manner? We know that music will be for sale, but is it a possiblity that we--hardcore fans--could influence what is sold and how it's sold? For instance, I would like to see a website which would allow us to purchase/download albums for $10 - $20 and have the option to purchase/download individual singles from that album for $.99. And, I think this could work for studio and live material as well as video. So, we could be able to purchase/download an entire video of concert for $10 - $20, and we could be able to purchase/download a video of a single song/performace from a concert for $.99. (I ask for this becuse I'm more interested in live material than songs from the vault. Also, I often mix and match songs/performances from various live shows. So rather than having video of one show from the Diamonds and Pearls Tour, I have mixed together my favorite moments from various shows of that tour to create my own video compilation of the Diamonds and Pearls Tour.) I should add that I'd hope we would be able to do the same for the promotional videos as well. So, we would be able to download each promotional video for $.99 or even downland them in some two hour grouping of promotional video for $10 - $20.

*

My ultimate point is maybe the moderators of Prince.org and Housequake can complile some type of list of what fans would like to be able to purchase and how we would like to purchase it and then submit it to whomever is handling how his work is to be sold. Doing this will inform those folks who probably have no clue what hardcore fans desire, making it simple for them to understand and meet the market demand. (These folks only understand dollars so let's show them for what we are willing to pay and how we are willing to pay for it.) This may be a stupid idea, but rather than just us (me included) complaining about what those idiots handling Prince's music dosen't know about the music and what fans want, this could be the one and only opportunity for us to help them to provide to us what we want, which is as much access to the music (audio and video) as possible.

Great point!!! I started a thread last week called Request line for The Estate asking people to post what the wanted in the form of an official release. Hardly anyone posted on it. Some people even complained about the thread???Nobody want the same bullshit greatest hits cd released with the same songs again.

I think it's kind of weird/too opportunistic that he changed his twitter pix to one of P and him. If you're a good lawyer, you do the work yourself. And not on a public forum like twitter. It looks amateurish like he's asking who Mr. Bit and Mr. Torrent are.

Interesting how Londell can ask for our help but strings the fanbase along about a concert that hasn't even been booked at the stadium. If they were so worried about bootlegs and money, why in the world did they not release the Piano and Microphone live shows P had already recorded with the intention of releasing them. I'm not a business lawyer but i can guarantee you a double set of live recordings of his last concert tour-ending with his final performance of Purple Rain in Atlanta-would have broken sales records. They already have the material and they're talking about bootlegs and releasing another "Greatest Hits" compilation. I'm wondering if they even want to make money.

Does anyone know exactly what Londell has achieved for his clients, above and beyond carrying out day-to-day legal proceedings, which is standard practice?

Me thinks he's a bit of an opportunist. Happy to be proven wrong, but something not right. Not seen many accolades thrown his way from neutral sources, or industry bodies.
