The bolded part is my understanding. They think that he was not aware that he was actually taking fentanyl.

From my understanding the pills were stamped as Hydrocodone, but were tested showing a combination of several drugs Fentanyl, U 44770. lidocaine and another unnamed drug, he had hydrocodone acids in his system, so I'm assuming he must have used the last of whatever hydrocodone he had left, which I'm betting was laced with other drugs he knew nothing about except fentanyl which is why he didn't have any in his system earlier, but probably still had an overdose of some kind. Yes these pills were found in several bottles, some vitamin c, some aspirin.

Unknowingly the 2nd time, the plane incident a week earlier he had to be revivied. The most frustrating thing about all of this is he had the ultimate wake up call with the airplane episode and waited a day too long to seek real help. This was compounded by the fact he was apparently self medicating with drugs bought off the street. If he actually had hip pain that was bad enough to require medication, why wasn't he seeing a pain management specialist. If pain was a real issue, it's rediculous there was no record of any pain management prescriptions at all for the past year.

who said it was just one and he damn near died a week earlier...if he was getting pills under discreet circumstances as you outlined above, he is still breaking the law..i go with black market drugs because if phizer was mis labeling pills causing deaths or any other big pharma there woudl be a system wide shut down, that hasnt happened

I also don't understand why it took nearly a full week to seek help after the plane incident. Also, consider the reasons why prince might pick fentanyl over other pills. Apparently, the duration of the effect is immediate and quick. In other words, they give immediate relief but don't last. Easier to hide and to just take at night when you go to bed. Maybe, he started that way. Taking them after a hard day in which there was constant strain on his legs, joints etc, but getting through the day on adreline. ( take them at night, get immediate relief, finally get some sleep) ..unfortunately, he might have eventually needed them all the time to feel better. Maybe, the pill form was new to him and the additional drugs given to him for withdrawal interfered with the batch he took that night.

I have nothing but compassion, but I really really hope his addiction did not start in the 80's because of psychological reasons.

Then he supposedly ODs on this plane and then dies a week later and there is no trace of long term use of the drug that he supposedly has pills all around his house.

Celebrities often have doctors in different states. I am sure the investigators have done a 50 state search so Minnesota wasn't the only jurisdiction looked at. Only the autopsy report will tell us the facts ... I hope the family allows it to be released sooner rather than later.

I'm not sure what you're getting at here, it's known he contacted an addition/pain management expert for help. If there was no prescription from any doctors, perhaps he didn't trust doctors, thought he could manage it on his own, or thought it was more likely to get out that he was taking pills if he had doctors and pharmacists involved.
