Account from secret show weeks before death..Prince was on fire! Good read, and yet another account of how everything seemed very normal. "You always get the dream that you deserve, from what you value the most" -Prince 2013

I don't know why anyone would lie about this, but it did seem strange that he would cuss at this point. I don't understand wtf is going on [Edited 8/21/16 0:30am]

So wait, Prince did a secret show, in New York City in April? “He didn't seem ill,” Stevens said. “He played for two hours. He sang his ass off. He played every instrument. He sang everything. He sang all his old-school stuff. He sang all his new-school stuff.” Clearly he couldn't have played every instrument at the same time so who was the band with him? This article makes no mention of it being a piano only show. Stevens says that Prince even had the energy to keep up with not one but two dates. “He was running back and forth with his — he always runs around with two women,” he said. WTF?“He was really nice. The only rule was, no one was allowed to record, film or photograph. And no one was allowed to talk to him or look at him,” Stevens says, adding that Prince was apologetic about the terms he apparently set. “Every time he would walk in and out, (he'd say), ‘Sorry, boys. Sorry guys. Sorry. I know I'm being a pain in the ass,’” Stevens said. But no one seemed to mind at all. "Sorry. I know I'm being a pain in the ass"? Does that sound like Prince? Would he even use a word like "ass" knowing that he stopped swearing? Unless he used something different and this guy just translated it to "ass"? Something seems very strange about this whole story. NY Daily News. OK then

I don't believe this story. for one thing, I thought he dropped the whole "don't look at me" thing. For another thing, if he was doing it, why would he apologize? Lastly, he doesn't cuss.

This is why you can't take everything said in interviews as truth. There may have been a show, but who knows after that. Apparantley Prince brought his cuss jar that night.

This story is about as credible as Bigfoot sightings. The NY Daily News is an unabashed tabloid.

Must have been on April 1st.

That's not what the article said, it said he did a show in NY about a month before he died, Rolling Stone has an article about a show in NY that happened about a month before he died. Apd prince certainly has "played every instrument" in a show without playing them all at the same time. This is simply in contrast to his other recent shows where he only played the piano.
So wait, Prince did a secret show, in New York City in April?

Do they mean the show he did announcing his bio book? It took place in NY. Love is God,

You wouldn't have guessed there was anything wrong from the TMZ vid of him coming out of his NY hotel on 21st March either. As they said, he "hopped and skipped across a New York City sidewalk"

I'm conflicted about the validity of the story but the pain in the ass comment is not the reason why. For one thing, there's no guarantee that Prince actually stopped swearing but saying he did stop makes for decent publicity. But even if he did stop cursing, "ass" is hardly a "bad" word. Its not like he's supposed to have said "sorry, I know I'm being a cunt" or anything. Besides, as you point out, it may not even be an exact quote. The reason I'd doubt this story is based purely on the fact that Prince is not around to dispute it, so people can say what they want and there's nobody who can call them a liar. The story sounds plausible. Even the bit about the musical instruments because when I seen Prince live he played guitar and keyboard at the same time. I'm just naturally sceptical about such stories.

Ok I was getting confused but now knowing it was the book bio launch it makes a bit more sense. Not the running back and forth between two women during a performance, not the pain in the ass nor the don't look at me or talk to me comment. Just not buying it. Paisley Park is in your heart

Is Ass really that bad of word? I think it is more interesting that he was kind of apoligetic about the fuss and it is so in line with people have been saying about him. Being so kind and polite the last years of this life. The behavior still does not fit the picture of raging drug addict. I keep thinking he had to be on some sort of pain managment.

I think the writer assumes that readers are aware enough to understand that, obviously, Prince cannot play all instruments at one time, so leaving it to the reader to assume that, of course there was a band there with him, therefore not needing to state it in the article. As to the "ass" word, maybe the dud adlibbed what Prince actually stated, and those weren't Prince's actual words? There's nothing strange about this story other than the fact that people think it's a strange story.

[Edited 8/21/16 1:37am] Agree.. I think the guy Stevens admitting he was star struck may not remember every detail correctly. Bottom line Prince looked and seemed fine.

At the end of the day, it don't really matter what anyone thought, because obviously there WAS something wrong with him, it's just that he hid it from outsiders

But they are saying they found from his test with Dr S and the ME that he did not have long term use of Fentynl. He was performing and getting around good because he was not using Fentanyl.

Are you kidding me? Have you REALLY listened to "This Coulkd B Us"? carefully. If not do so. Listen to what he was saying, quietly, in the background. LOL. He was changing. "Badder than a wicked witch-a"

You mean reverting back?? the erotic talk never left, but he's not cursing in that song, just being creatively nasty. There's a difference
