Prince songs chosen by his family for memorial held Prince's family picked "God" and the unreleased "The Grand Progression" by Prince for his official memorial that was recently held for family and friends. Those two songs are both beautiful and very powerful. It must of been quite sad for those who attended to listen to those songs in memory of Prince. What do others think of those two songs? The songs demonstrate Prince's amazing vocal talent and the lyrics convey his spirituality that he longed shared worldwide. At the height of his fame during the Purple Rain tour, he would perform "God" during every concert. He would do this on piano & mic. | |

I also thought the choice of Beautiful Life by Judith Hill made me sad. Such sad lyrics. | |

Both songs are beautiful and suit the serentity for a memorial. Shelby J posted on her facebook page that she performed Misty Blue at the memorial. I'm sure she gave a fine performance and sang it from the her heart. Come now, isn't life a little better with a pair of good shoes? - Prince 1985 | |

I never got into the boots or anything, respected his wishes on that. I'll give it a listen. I appreciate it.Yes. They are very powerful songs and it's refreshing that his family decided on songs that are not what many others are choosing as a tribute to Prince such as "Purple Rain". It gives hope that the tribute in October will be remarkable. | |

Shelby J. also sang Misty Blue using an arrangement done by one of Prince's piano players, Cassandra O'Neal. That one would have made me tear up. Paisley Park is in your heart

Yes. That was also performed. As well as Judith Hill's song. The family chose great songs in his memory and they should be commended for that. | |
