Lets pay the tax owed on Paisley Park. I did! There is a lot of taxes owed on Paisley Park . I was able to make a payment online on the Carver County website. I paid $20. If a little more than 6000 people do the same , we will have Prince 's tax bill paid .
[Edited 8/13/16 16:38pm]
And like the song "Paisley Park is in your heart", Prince states in that song , " see the man cry as the people in the city condemn where he lives, the memories will die but taxes he will still have to give". [Edited 8/20/16 13:17pm]I asked Prince what he was planning to do. He told me , I'm going to look for the ladder. I asked him what that meant. All he said was, sometimes it snows in April. - book D.M.S.R. |

I guess that's your payment pending on the site - that's a sweet thoughtful idea. I would be so upset if Paisley had to be sold for a tax bill. Let's pay this. Link below to the site http://mn-carver.manatron...amp;a=6518 |

That's ridiculous. The estate has been ordered to monetize itself, so it can start earning money. Those taxes will be paid off within a year. MJ had huge debts, and his was paid off in a relatively short amount of time after he passed away.
Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

I dont think this will be necessary, I will pay for the next release and that money will help with the estate and his legacy. Nice gesture though Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜 |

Prince's estate is worth millions upon millions of dollars. Potentially billions. I don't really think there's any need for fans to contribute towards the property tax of Paisley Park. Still, your heart is probably in the right place. But Prince would say, go to the store and buy a few more copies of HNR2 instead |

His heirs have to pay the stupid death tax on Prince's estate which is about half the estimated value of the entire estate. Prince did not have that kind of cash on hand which is why they are liquidating his properties. Paying a tax on already taxed monies. Sad.... [Edited 8/13/16 8:35am]

Do people understand the difference between federal taxes and property taxes?
The big tax billl that is coming due is FEDERAL, not Carver County. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise. |

For me, it's not about whether this is truly necessary. This was simply my way of giving something to Prince. I know I know it goes to the tax man but I did for Prince. Paisley park is in your heart!
Thank u 4 posting this and the link.
I just paid $20 by E check.
Let's all pay it off bit by bit fan by fan and show them (estate and family) that not only do we care about Prince, them, and Paisley Park, but that we want it as our memorial home to his legacy. Our Graceland/neverland. Where Prince can see us, and watch over us tributing him. Thank u for all u gave us Prince. We have to show that we want paisley park now and 4ever to carry on his musical legacy. His entire life's work won't be 4gotten! [Edited 8/13/16 11:19am]

Yes. I am sure.
Not long after Michael Jackson died, his Estate did a deal worth $500 million dollars with Sony, for the rights to release previously unheard music. That was just one deal. And trust me... Prince has 20x more unreleased music, at least. And in terms of back catalogue, whilst MJ's Estate has the huge cash cow that is "Thriller", Prince's Estate has literally 40 albums in the back catalog, MANY of which are multiplatinum. On top of that - you have massive money earners like Sinead's cover of NC2U, Chaka's cover of I Feel For You, and Manic Monday. Those songs bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars in royalties every single year. On top of that, Prince had, what, $30-50 million dollars worth of property, which is all gonna get sold except for Paisley and the Purple Rain house. Hell, the 130 or however many acres on Galpin Blvd is worth $13 million alone.
On top of that you've got movie royalties from sales of Purple Rain, Under The Cherry Moon, SOTT, Graffiti Bridge. It's only a matter of time before we see Blu-Ray releases of Purple Rain Live and Lovesexy Dortmund. You've got the unreleased movies of The Second Coming and 3121/Lotusflow3r in the vault.
The amount of tie-ups that you could do with Prince's catalogue is ridiculous. The amount of sales you could make from previously unreleased music is ridiculous. The amount of publishing royalties is insane.
Prince's Estate, properly managed, once all the legal shit is taken care of, is worth billions. No doubt about it.
My band's manager works with a company called Primary Wave. They did a deal with Courtney Love to represent Nirvana's Estate. Now - bear in mind that Nirvana made just three albums. Just three - Bleach, Nevermind and In Utero. Four if you include the Unplugged album. Trust me - the amount of money they make from the Nirvana catalog would blow your mind.
We could potentially be bearing witness, in 5 years, to seeing kids wearing the Love Symbol on t-shirts no matter where you go in the world. The same way you do with Nirvana and the Rolling Stones. And for those of us who've been on this purple ride for a long time - particularly those of us that remember the early 2000's, pre-Musicology, when nobody was really checking for Prince except us - it's gonna be weird as fuck. But he belongs to everyone now, and if we really want his message to reach as many people as possible, the only way is for them to embrace his legacy through every avenue, and mass-market commotodization is the way they're going to do that.

That's how capitalism works especially in the music industry. See : Tupac, Biggie, Lennon, Cobain, Morrison, Elvis, Bob Marley. Michael Jackson......
Prince knew that himself - see his quote about how all his music would be released somebody, even if he wasn't the one to do it.
But it's not "others" - it's his family. And surely, as fans, we want him to be remembered? I know I do. I want the whole world to know, just as we know, how much of a genius he was, because they damn sure didn't appreciate him enough when he was here. Successful management of the Estate will achieve that - and yes, it will generate a ton of money in the process. You can't have one, without the other.
