"the place where u r now does not require time" smile

i believe the afterworld is outside of time.

i like the idea that a lifetime is like a book that has a linear progression, and yet there is much more beyond this book when this story has been read...

i feel like youthfulness focuses on one thing at a time, and focusing on many things at once is what makes time seem to speed up.

prince seemed to be good at appreciating the quality of time instead of quantity, filling each moment with wonder to the max. how many average lifetimes of creativity did he fit into 57 years? i think more than many who live 100+years. if we were measuring quality, prince's lifetime is very rich. of course i want to see that face, that hair, that voice, that body so perfectly animated by his beautiful mind, to exist for a much longer time if it would please him, because he's so good at improving this planet, but his mind is still here at least and it will continue to create. seems like he believed in reincarnation, 'time' 4 a new story?

Okay guys, don't laugh at me, but I actually wrote a poem about this... It's a bit heavy at the end, so if you're feeling particularly down about losing him today, maybe skip it... (*shuffle shuffle* *is embarased about writing poems*)

How Can U Just Leave Me Standing?

When Susannah leaves her lover

It will be, we surmise, because he’s faithless.

This man of such abiding and intoxicating

Faith he can communicate the movement of

The spirit to several thousand people at a time.

It hurts. And so, as always when encountering

A thing that hurts, he writes a song, a song

That will stay

Unperformed for years, long past

Nineteen ninety nine, until

Another women leaves him, perhaps

Or maybe not this time

Because he’s faithless.

But that is not the point.

(Or it is only half the point.)

In that exalted auditorium in

Switzerland, his face all angles,

Inhuman almost, like an

Interplanetary Egyptian cat goddess,

(An impression only amplified by the

Way he licks his bleeding thumb),

He demands to know

Why he’s been abandoned.

The cynic – and the feminist – in me

Wants to tell him it’s

Because he’s faithless,

But his desolation is so lucid

I bite my tongue, and now,

Both of us are bleeding.

The thing with time you see is

You were right

And you were wrong.

Yes, there’s only now,

And God knows, no one lives in

Presence the way you lived in

Presence, and that,

Of all your preternatural gifts

Was possibly the greatest and

Probably the origin

Of the others. But,

If it’s only now,

That doesn’t mean the past has passed

And you can just pretend it isn’t there.

The past is now.

A silent and unbidden lens

Between you and

Every moment,

Framing everything you see and feel but

Unperceived

Until you find the courage

To look directly at it.

I know it hurts. But she did not

Abandon you

For reasons you don’t understand

And you don’t need to ask her why. But,

Nothing in you lies,

You were abandoned,

And whether there are reasons

Matters nothing

Because you were a child.

In your refuge on the stage

You stand

Alone and play

Like you have always played

For your survival.

I want to make you look

Directly at it, that

Ecstatic rage, so

Exquisitely unleashed

And yet controlled

By your fingers on the frets.

And when you ask us

What’s the use in crying?

I almost want to

Climb onto the stage

And wring it out of you,

All the years of grief

That you have carried.

So that, years later,

When you almost die,

You will trust the world

Enough to ask for help.

Very nice!

Eventually every cloud runs out of rain.

Time is a concept we barely understand yet, so anything is possible as far as I'm concerned. Once we thought everything in the universe rotated around the Earth! Once we thought the Earth was flat! All logical ideas in their day but with greater knowledge we shatter those illusions. Theories about time from incredibly smart humans like Einstein and Hawkins have laid down concepts which are just mind boggling to the average person like me. But those theories are beginning to be proven as fact. [Edited 8/15/16 12:00pm]

Our life here on earth and the universe is a big mystery!! Why does Man look at the stars and seek answers? The quest for knowledge never ends.

It is our nature to try to understand what we are part of. Maybe to help us grow and evolve.

I too am curious about this. Is the thought that time does not exist because humans have put some organization and measurement on it that could be different? To me that does not mean it doesn't exist but that other ways of measuring it do.

My intent is to understand why or how he could think it does not exist not to argue but try to get it. I am curious and never understood when Prince use to say time doesn't exist. Curious of others thoughts and will check out Einstein's words/writings on the matter

I suppose time, as we know it, the clock and it's division of hours minutes and seconds is certainly a man made thing and when you think about it, yeah its very important for a lot of things but ultimately we are enslaved by time, always having to be somewhere or having to do something by a certain hour or precise time and abide by its rules, same can be said for the bigger picture, being days, weeks, months and years, I think Prince didn't believe in the man made concept of time and probably believed more in nature's clock and calender such as the seasons and moon phases, he was spiritually awake, and when you have an awakening it's a lot to do with dropping old beliefs and the illusion of time was just 1 thing of many he may have dropped. Just my take on it.
All u haters need to recognize, if u cant c right through these lies, good gawd!

In Prince's world time didn't exist. I suppose when you own your own studio, have employees that follow your schedule, have a private jet at your disposal, chefs to make you food whenever you want, the ability to rent out places like movie theaters, etc. you could say that time doesn't exist.

In the beginning, I think he shrugged off time because he was so young and energetic.

Toward the end, I think he laughed at time because (visibly) he had not aged much -- at least compared to other people his age.

Time Waits For No One, though.

That;s because they're looking at you weirdly and don't want to talk to you anymore.
