I was thinking about this very thing last night while spinning Vibrator. As a guy, there have been many times during my music listening career where I thought damn, that is a great lyric but it most definitely means more to a woman. When that happens, it's always a song written or sung by a women. A quick example would be Le Tigre. Their overall theme applies to everyone, but undeniably there are lyrics that speak directly to the experience of being a woman that can't necessarily be enitrely empathized by a man. And then there's Prince . I just don't hear many male artists being able to place themselves into a head space of the opposite sex so effectively.

Regarding gay fans. Eh, just like in the het world, you have gay guys who will be attracted to masculine and feminine traits. I think it's not much of a stretch to say Prince's beauty was looked at by most as feminine. That can be a turn off for both men and women.

I totally understand what you're going through, I think most everyone on this forum does. I find it such a relief to hear other folks' similar feelings on the forum. It's such a remarkably painful experience of grief and has taken me totally by surprise. Some days are extra sad, then I'll perk up a little, then I'm really down again.

Your right, it's very very rare, which is why P got such mad props from us for it. But I'm not sure its them 'not being able to' as much as 'not trying.' P was just totally unfrightened by it, and I really think that was the root of his epic sex magic.
