Shake and 96 Tears GB's Shake always reminded me of the Question mark & The Mysterians' 96 Tears. Has anyone else noticed? Life Matters

they're very similair, but they're just simple, basic rock piano riff/chord progression. . a bit like the Portishead glory box chord progression (that's an Isaac hayes sample i believe) - that progression is in a million and one other songs. *

I only know of the original version (see link in OP) and was not aware that Aretha Franklin had covered it until now Life Matters

The original has always been very popular in France and so is the Stranglers version, so I heard it quite a lot on the radio. Aretha's version came only 2 years after the original but it sounds very different, like it's not the same song. And it hasn't got that distinct keyboard riff I was referring to.
The first time I listened to Graffiti Bridge and heard the keyboard on Shake, my first thought was that it was a new cover of 96 Tears lol. Life Matters
