Listening to him is almost as irritating as reading that so called Prince book he wrote. Just play the full interviews! Damn! Loves the sound of his own voice hrmph

You have to love your own voice to a great extent if you want to be in radio of any fashion. Been there, done that.

To everyone, there is not only an interesting story from Susannah about him proposing to her in 1985 or so, but also about "Wally". The chorus went "oh my la di da", then morphed into "oh my melody, oh my malady". Malady being from a french word meaning sickness; he related that to Susan Rogers about why the chorus seemed so simple lyrically. So he was expressing the pain of Susannah leaving him. The reference to Wally was that he was talking to his friend Wally, asking him for his glasses, because he was going out to the club after his woman had just left him, and he wanted to look fly. By the end of the song, he says gives the glasses back to Wally, and doesn't feel like going out.

Rogers says there was a bit of a mix done on it, and it was copied to cassette, then the original recording was erased. So - if that cassette exists somewhere, then the original recording of "Wally" exists, which contradicts most stories about it being forever lost.

Funny Elizabeth Taylor story. lol I was just imaging her from that White Diamonds commercial... razz The ending of the show contains a revealing quote from a Paisley Park employee to Toure when he was waiting for Prince after Prince mysteriously disappeared from his presence, "Prince doesn't say goodbye."

You have to hear Susan Rogers tell it. It involved her boyfriend, Liz, & Prince backstage after a concert. Let's just say the boyfriend sacrificed himself for Prince's sake.

Even his death occurred in Prince-ly fashion. He sent everyone home so no was around for him to have to say goodbye. I've heard so many people tell Prince stories about how they would get distracted for a minute and he would just disappear. Ha. This guy made this life his own in every facet imaginable.

Thank you TP for posting this, it was so good. I love to hear any new tidbits on Prince.

The Susan story about Wally and her boyfriend saving Prince from Liz T - nice.

Interesting to hear Prince totally re-did 'Bad" as well, and sent it to wacko. I wonder if that tape still exists somewhere too hmmm

No, actually she was rather specific, and explained how "la di da", morphed into "melody" then "malady".

I don't know who or what wacko is. He did send the tape back to MJ, and I would be curious to hear his take on "Bad". I think that was just discussed on here recently if Prince recorded a version at all, and if it exists. Now we know it does somewhere.
