Does lil sweet make anyone else sad? I use to get a kick out of the Lil Sweet commercials, but now they are just a painful reminder that he is gone. Anyone else feel this way? Or am I weird?

I've had a few people tell me that he reminds them of Prince. If anything, Lil' Sweet is based on eighties glam rockers, and not Prince.
That is just my opinion...

That is just my opinion... Same! It was actually my dad who first pointed lil sweet out to me and he assumed it was supposed to be a Prince like character. My take was glam rocker too. I asked my brother his opinion and his first thought was Prince. So now lil sweet makes me think of Prince anyway, and yes, OP, seeing him does make me feel a little sad [Edited 8/7/16 1:18am] [Edited 8/7/16 2:10am] We all want the stuff that's found in our wildest dreams. . .

nope... he's the love child of Steven Tyler & Prince, those commercials crack me up! Also, that dude ate shit for a lot of years, glad he found a way to make some $. It's not his fault he's annoying he can still sing, lol [Edited 8/7/16 1:12am]

You're weird. There were singers and actors who had this type of glitzy sex-machine persona in the 70s, way before Prince started moaning in falsetto. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Ohhh that guy. I never drew the connection, I always thought he was supposed to be a Poison/Cinderella/Motley Crue type singer. ¡The Future Is Ours, If You Can Count! https://www.youtube.com/w...A_zTY0qWWk

Yeah, 80s glam rock was kind of a throwback to 70s glam artists like David Bowie, the band "Sweet", Marc Bolan, New York Dolls, etc.. I love Prince but he wasn't originating this style, he was one of the artists who incorporated some of this pre-existing style into his act. Though he never really sang like a glam rocker imo, he just adopted some of the look. [Edited 8/7/16 8:55am] ¡The Future Is Ours, If You Can Count! https://www.youtube.com/w...A_zTY0qWWk

No. I thought he was funny way before Prince died. The story of the guy that plays little sweet makes me sad.

I always got that lil sweet was supposed to be be Prince. He is tiny, he does the falsetto, he's smooth with the ladies, and he wears the purplish clothing. Isn't the guy that plays him white, and they make him look like a light skinned black dude. I also noticed when P first died, the lil sweet commercials disappeared for awhile. I started seeing them again a month, maybe 2, after his passing.

Totally Prince, from the 1st viewing on! It is definitely playing on his late-70s persona. It usually cracks me up! Sa-weeet!

Seen that commericial once since. But I've always seen him as a combination of all or a lot of 80s rockers, not just Prince. But Prnc is there mostly by voice.

OK--according to Entertainment Weekly's 2015 interview with Justin Guarini http://www.ew.com/article...-lil-sweet, Li'l Sweet is a hybrid Glam-Rock character.

Heh--yeah. You see and hear stuff that Prince would do in that character, and then you see other stuff that the glam rockers will do, so I can accept the hybrid description. There is an awful lot of Prince in Li'l Sweet, though!

I've always hated this commercial cuz he's obviously supposed to be Prince. I also noticed how they stopped airing it after he passed. The commercial is in poor taste anyway... Wonder if P ever saw it?

Wonder if P ever saw it? I liked the commercials because they were based off of Prince. I don't think they were rude or disrespectful, so I had no issue with them. I am sure he saw them. Maybe he got a kick out of them too. I hope he did.

I think that you guys can see Prince in anything. I don't think that he was based on Prince at all. If anything, I think he is based more on Justin Hawkins from The Darkness.

So, who was White Gold based on in the milk commercials, I wonder.

P had a good sense of humor, likely thought it was funny. My fave is, "Lil' Sweet slidin' down the banisterrrrr" [Edited 8/8/16 21:37pm]

I didn't really like them at first when they started airing on tv too. I also noticed for several weeks after he passed they stopped playing them. But after his passing for some reason it doesn't really bother me anymore. My favorite one is the lil sweet laudry commercial. i think i want ya
