There's nothing creepy or spooky about Prince's life or passing.
He was a very spiritually in-tune human being; a rare person.
All this magical hocus-locus stuff is ridiculous. He was allowed to be his true self and was immensely creative.

That was interesting thanks. Lots of background info on that era.

Just a note, I didn't know that lady in the red wig is actually Sheila.E!

Yea. That was shocking. Suffice it to say that someone on the cover is Prince. In my opinion the old doctor is him and it is quite spooky and ironic. Others can have their own interpretation of the cover. That is what makes it such a great album cover. I want the print. Damn, I just noticed the clown is juggling the earth. After all of these years studying that cover. Amazing.

I think he was different than the rest of us and not just because of his musical talent or creativity. His third eye was always open since the beginning. He knew things the rest of us didn't. That is part of what made Prince, Prince. We were lucky to share this earth with him.

Incorrect. Practically every member of the Revolution is represented there. It's not spooky, or ironic. It's like everything about death that Prince mentions becomes suddenly "ironic" because fans need to romanticize his death. His death is a tragedy, and was unnecessary, and too soon. It was ugly, and finding him could have only been traumatic for those who were there. Stop trying to paint it with purple colored glasses. We all talk about death, and we're all going to die. It's not a special situation here.

As an unrelated note: Doug Henders, the artist for the cover, had photos of most band members, and how they were to be painted for the cover. He even posed himself as "cloudsuit man" to keep proportions, etc., in check. The actress Clara Bow is clearly represented, too (see below; and Wendy dressed as her for the "Raspberry Beret" video; but she served as a model for the crying woman)

Also, read the other thread about ATWIAD for the original cover, and more backstory on the painting. All of the elements that Prince wanted are in that one too. The ladder on the shore, the clown juggling, the old woman crying, the girl on the see-saw, a tambourine. One guy on the original cover looks like Sean Penn a bit (at a glance). The thread is a good read.

Here's Sheila:

And Susannah

And Wendy:

And Doug himself:

And the real Clara Bow:

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I don't think people that reflect on his life and death and who point out things like the rainbow over paisley after his death or the date of the recording of sometimes it snows in april or some of the other surreal aspects of his life and death are looking at things with purple colored glasses. Prince shared the view that much of his life could not be explained and there were no coincidences. You are free to take a black and white view of his life. Some of us disagree with you. Back to the point. Someone on the cover is Prince. Also, I am not sure that is Wendy in the photo. The article says it is a "model" but it names the others.

I was thinking last night about starting a thread with all of the mentions he makes of death. You can go back all the way to the intro of For You. Every album, every other song talks about sadness and death.

And then to think, one day he dies. Wow! What a psychic! He must have had a premonition or something!

It would have been even weirder if Prince was dreamingly lucid enough to bring a doctor on tour with him. Maybe even put him on stage in case there was a medical emergency. But in order to keep the fans from getting worried, this doctor would pretend to be playing keyboards.

.

Oh, and he would have a ladder backstage too. Just in case.

I'm not even sure how this is a question. If the OP looks at the "Raspberry Beret" video, it's the whole album cover come to life. Almost every band member is dressed as someone from the album cover, and Fink has on a gray hair wig.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Prince is dressed as the same character that David Henders posed for. I think that who Prince is on the cover is supposed to be a bit of a mystery. I think he is the doctor for the reasons that I stated. I also think that the doctor holding the ladder in his hand is a bit haunting.

The doctor on the cover of ATWIAD is spooky. It looks like an older Prince and he is holding the "ladder" in his hand. Given the way he died and that it was arguably doctors had a hand in sending him to the ladder, it is yet another spooky coincidence in his life and death. Prince was living in his own lucid dream. He knew things subconsciously that he may not have known consciously. I realize that I could be wrong about the doctor but that is my take.

no coincidence really. that is a combination Dr Fink & Prince

different mixtures of his bandmembers, people in his camp, and Prince are throught that painting

Before I knew about the background, I wondered if the character in the cloud suit wasn't supposed to be Prince with blonde hair, given his infatuation at the time with the movie Amadeus.
