Idea: RSD 2017 becomes Wrecka Store Day (file under Shower Thoughts)

Read this as an amusing brain dump of an incomplete idea.

.

Prince takes over record store day in 2017. Its in April, close to the anniversary of his passing. It would further show the world how important he was to music at all levels, even if he never participated in the thing before, himself.

.

Naturally, it's renamed 'Wrecka Store' day for 2017, there's a bunch of Prince releases and stuff on sale alongside all the other stuff that would happen anyway. Stores deck out in Purple.

.

Pick your side: would you say "sounds great, I'd go and buy stuff" or "shameless cash in, I'd boycot it if anything like it happened.

Lets just go somewhere (we can funk)

Oh for crying out loud, the man did ZILCH for RSD in the past.

The local record stores in my area don't really participate in RSD like other places. They might have a sale on buy $25 worth of stuff and get a T-shirt, but in general - no special deals or special editions of stuff. Their stance is "record store day is every day". They really love vinyl (and sell a shit-ton of it), and don't buy into the hype of stuff like that. I see the point of RSD in a broad sense, but I'm with them - every day is vinyl day.

Prince never did anything for RSD in the U.S. No special releases, nothing. He never even really acknowledged it to my recollection.

I'd refile the idea.

"eye don’t really care so much what people say about me because it is a reflection of who they r."

The thing with RSD is that it's getting more and more commercial. More and more about big "wrecka" companies trying to cash in on the vinyl revival and sell expensive editions of limited releases of famous artists. My local record store goes all the way, they have bands playing in the store, I got Sly & the Family Stone Live at the Filmore East on red and green vinyl last year, but this year, even the "wrecka stow sales girl" complained about it getting too commercial.

Every time I see a user use "wrecka stow" or whatever the fuck it is, I want to vomit on their mother.

But still you spell it perfectly, so U know what we're talking about. If you have a problem with people using that term, then say so and let my mother rest in peace, okay? Thanks.

It's used enough.
