The Question of U and Joy in Repetition Two of the best songs Prince ever recorded. I also see them on list we make here. So, why? Why do we love these songs so. I misplaced my soundtrack cd, so I bought the movie for a whole dollar just to have access to these songs till I could get to my cd{this was back in the day before itunes, Apple tunes and Tidal} Don't judge because I also get the Theives in the Temple. Beautiful, Loved and Blessed
Thank You Prince | |

. I also love 'The Question of U', 'Joy In Repetion', and 'Theives in the Temple' These songs tug at our heart strings in a way that creates longing and introspection and an almost Film Noir type of sensuality in the case of 'Joy In Repetion'. . Have you heard the acoustic demo of 'Thieves'? It's absolutely GORGEOUS! A very slight difference in the melody - and creates a wholly different mood. Check it out!

I wouldn't have given Graffiti Bridge a second listen if it wasn't for those songs.

Love GB CD/album. See that's the problem with picking only x number of albums u love, there so many sacrifices it's staggering.

I only bought Graffiti Bridge for the soundtrack version of Joy in Recognition and The Question of U. The other tracks are Come now, isn't life a little better with a pair of good shoes? - Prince 1985

GB is my favorite 90s album, in part of the Question of U and Joy in Repetition. These are complex and nuanced love songs that are beautiful to behold. Really not radio fodder for the kids. The first 7 songs of the album (which excludes the decent The Time song) is the best long sequence of great songs he did in the 90s, and that doesn't even include the beguiling Thieves of the Temples. His vocals are just georgeous in all these songs.

No, I haven't where can I get it. I love that song!!!

I find that the more I listen to the album, the more I like Prince's other songs. Outside of ROund and ROund, I don't care much for the non-Prince songs. Beautiful, Loved and Blessed
Thank You Prince | |

On the opening night of The Nude Tour, a soaking wet affair in the open air Feyenoord Stadion in Rotterdam, about half an hour into the set, Prince asked, "what is the answer... 2 The Question of U" and the beat started. No one had heared the song, but throughout the stadium, lighters started flashing on the rhythm of the beat. Boom... Boomboom... Flash... flashflash... It was the kind of thing that turns good music into magic and why nothing beat seeing P in concert.

Yep, that seems to be a common opinion. IMO, I think they are decent but pale in comarison to Prince's. The one song that people rag on that Prince sings on the Cd s the title song. While not the best, I imagine he wanted a song with a positive message for the movie and it is a good message.

Literally two of my all time favorites. They're just brilliant. Lyrically I prefer Joy, I've always been drawn to it. Musically, I prefer The Question of U. I could listen to that guitar all day. From now on, 4 U I shall be wild 💜

I defintely agree! Both songs are among my top Prince songs. I cant get enough of them. Musically and lyrically just beautiful. Both songs have impressive guitar solos too
Thinking about it QOU has this dramatic/theatrical effect to it. The production is really amazing. Shame it was wasted on the GB soundtrack. [Edited 8/7/16 11:04am] i think i want ya

My two favorite songs from that album. Not sure what instrument it is but I love that haunting chiming melody near the end. It's creepy, but beautiful.

I have listened to GB many times since April but recently Joy brought me to tears knowing I would never see/hear him play that solo.

2 of my absolute faves - stellar cuts in his deep catalogue, must haves! I get lost in both...

I know nothing about music technically, but it's like they're almost Indian sounding. And then they have this minor key mournful quality about them on top of that.

Love those 2 - never really liked Thieves in the Temple for some reason. Something about the production sounds corny and flat to me. Like the acoustic version much better.

I really like Question of U and Joy Live better than on GB. If anyone missed the original download Question of U/The One/Fallin is available on YT. I love this version. Enjoy

I saw half a dozen or so gigs of that tour. Was gonna say it was one of my fave parts of the show. Magic indeed. Joy in Rep...poetic, dreamlike, atmospheric. Ah but it's the lyrics! The lyrics! Sublime. I've always loved both of these songs but for a long time Joy in Repetition was my top favourites on this album. [Edited 8/10/16 3:06am] Life Matters

Love them both. The Question of U is definitely one of my Prince´s favorites...I always thought that GB has not been given proper recognition. Critics kept comparing with previous albums as if GB didn´t have any value, I never agreed with this critics. The album has beautiful slow melodies and great funky songs.
