I read somewhere that the complex costs 2M a year to maintain operational. And honestly, how many people would visit it if you'd make it into a museum? I am a huge fan, but now he's gone, I have no reason to visit PP all the way from Holland. Wasted money, if you ask me. A musician or record company should buy the studios and use them as intended.

"The road to ruin is paved with good intentions." . That's paraphrasing, but quite appropriate here. A lovely idea that could only have disasterous results.

Yeah, I love P, but I wouldn't visit PP from Denmark, I'm afraid. I was just thinking, reading an article about the possible sale, that I'm not sure it would be possible to run it as a museum only. But perhaps someone could use it for it's original purpose and have a museum there as well. That should work. There should be real, living music at PP. Not just a museum. IMHO.

How can someone buy something that isn't for sale? Paisley Park is in your heart

I agree.
Buying it without a fund to keep it would end up simply delaying losing it.
Besides, in order for it be run as a museum, the belongings would need to be there...and the rights to use the trademarks, etc. Otherwise, it's simply a big bare building.
I think it should be used to make music. The museum portion is nice, but it was the music that P built it for, no?The furnishings are a nice extra, but if the building could be utilized as a studio with the museum as an interesting side portion, much better, no?

Lovely idea but can you imagine the drama there would be-I might want to celebrate Grafitti Bridge and others want to burn it(GB). We barely get along as it is. So lets not. But if an official request for assistance came down I would contribute to turning PP into a museum. With the right people leading the charge it could work. Motown, while a lot smaller has a very nice museum in the midst of uban blight. I am not a Motown generation, I'm younger but I have been 2 and both times I found myself pulling out the old Motown hits. The mesuem is in a duplex but to walk where Stevie, Marvin, The Temps and my favorite Diana Ross and the Supremes walked gave me goose bumps.

. I was also thinking that the org should figure out someway to buy it and turn it into some sort of Institute for music education, but I think that that may be what happens to it no matter who ends up buying it. I also think that the state of Minnesota would be stupid not buy it for the tourism potential alone. It could be turned into a Prince Museum. I know that Prince hated the tourists at Disneyland but he might feel differently about all of the tourist who would come to PP to learn about him and his music and his contribution in the fight for artists rights. . 2 m a year is pretty conservative, i've heard it was a lot more than that.

you might not, but other people would, Elvis has fans who came from all over for him, my mentor, who was a close friend of Bruce Lee, had people visit him from all over the globe, asia and europe. People are pretty fanatical about guys like Prince.

I'm in the UK and I'd pay it a visit. You can get a direct flight to Minnesota from London I believe - which is amazing! I think it needs to be both a museum AND a working studio (both of which P actually wanted).
