MysticalChick

What are Prince's most spiritual / philosophical song lyrics?

There's a LOT of wisdom packed into those lyrics - wondering what you all find to be most profound for you.

If you can quote the lyric and reference the album (if you know it), I'd appreciate that.

For me, Anna Stesia is that song - I remember seeing him play that on the Lovesexy tour and he had the whole place singing along with "Love is God, God is love, girls and boys love God above" and I swear you could feel the presence of the Divine there in that space. (It's the only song that I remember from that show almost 30 years ago.)

What's yours?

"So this is where U end, and U and I begin ..."

Thanks for being my mystical unicorn.

It really was something I'll never forget. I'm highly 'woo-woo' now but back then not at all so it stands out as something really different for me.

There's a long, live version on the "One Night Alone" album that I love - especially the guitar work in it. Whenever I need a lift, I play that.

Also love "Beautiful, Loved and Blessed" smile

To me, "Beautiful Strange".

He spoke of the inner light, that perhaps the light we are looking for has always been inside us. Gorgeous, brilliant song love2

About two months ago, I was reading the lyrics to "I Would Die For You" and really thinking about what the lyrics were saying.

Now I can't listen to it without thinking it's what Jesus was saying to us with His life on Earth. It still gives me chills.

Also, The Cross and The Ladder are favorites.πŸ˜‡ One thing that has come from P's passing, is a renewed love for God and His blessings.❀️😎

Same here, Dolly. Never departed my faith, but I could tell there was distance. Since P's death, I've actually drawn closer to God seeking His direction. I'm hoping there is a purpose for P's death and a purpose for all of us individually and collectively who loved P so much.

I like the way you explained it❀️ I had begun earlier to get more aware of practicing my faith in my day to day more. I'm more focused on the Creator since P's death. Thanks for sharing 😘

214, so glad you love it, too. I want to have the lyrics printed and framed so I can remember how much the Father loves his children every time I see them. I've known every word since it was released, but never SAW them until now. πŸ˜‡

I am the universe
The sun, the moon and sea
I am the energy
4 that is what I believe
I can be contradiction
Cuz that is all I see
But I am the universe
And the universe is me

I am the one song (Ah yes)
And that one song is free
All things come from this one song (Yes they do, uh)
The garden and the tree
If everything, everything is present
What is will always be
This here is the first and the last song
And all that come between

When language falls like a wounded soldier
And it's covered by the sea
All the sadness
All these unanswered questions
Keep me company
(Company, company, company come 2 me, come 2 me please!)
Here at the center of it all
(I know)
I know that U can only come from me

(I am the universe)
Yes it will, oh, yes it will
(The sun, the moon and sea)
Where else is it gonna come from but me?

(I am the universe)
Oh my, my my my my my my my universe

(The universe is me)

(I am the universe)
(The sun, the moon and sea)

(I am the universe)

(We are the universe) {x2}

(The universe is me)
One truth (One truth)
One song (One song)
One energy

When you found me I was just a piece of clay
I was formless, you gave me a new name
With the breath of life I now live abundantly
All I needed was the potter's hand
And the blood on Calvary...

If I were to ever write down my life story
I could truly say with all the fame and glory
I was just a piece of clay in need of the potter's hand...

But forgiveness is how you win the game
I begged for truth, now I know the truth

After reading your post, I went back and read the lyrics to "I Would Die For You", wow your explanation is spot on.

I love The Cross, The Ladder and Anna Stesia. I am sure there are others.

For me, it's the exact same thing. Even better: I'm not a religious person but he had me singing along as well during that song. A good friend whom I went to the concert with wasn't religious as well and he went to the Lovesexy shows wearing a cross around his neck.
