30 Years of Parade (Under The Cherry Moon)

I am probably a little late to the game, but, can you all believe it's been 30 YEARS since Parade hit the Wrecka Stow? Amazing. What were the highlights. What were the songs that could have been left off?

Highlights:

Anotherloverholenyohead

Kiss

Mountains

New Position

Under The Cherry Moon

Sometimes It Snows In April

IMO - Low Light:

Girls And Boys

I Wonder U

Christopher Tracy's Parade

Tell me what Ya'll think.

It's a complete masterpiece - Perfect as it is. I wouldn't even add the b-sides or outtakes from that period. The sequence and vibe make a lot of sense.

A highlight is tough: Kiss is the hit of course but Anotherlover is the jam. I like I Wonder U, Do U Lie?, and Venus a lot as well.

The lowest, if I had to pick, would be Life Could be So Nice. (Ugh that was tough).

Absolutely nothing. Even my least favorite songs make sense on the album, and should not be removed. The Greatest!

30 years already?! How time flies! And yet it's an album that doesn't sound dated after all these years. Heard it on cassette in my Walkman for the first time years ago before the film came out and thinking about it now brings back great memories. Of course, listening to Sometimes it Snows In April now brings tears to my eyes every time. sad

One work of absolute genius.

One of the best P's releases.

The only thing I would change in it is "Life Can Be So Nice".
I don't think it's a bad song, but I strongly think it is ruined by a frantic, too dense and "out-of-place for the album" arrangement and mix.

A more funk and minimal approach would be stronger than what it is, for my taste.

This is probably my favorite Prince album. I love the variety of sounds.

There are no lowlights for me. But New Position, I Wonder U, Mountains, and of course Kiss are my favorites.

"Left off"?

Surely you jest.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
