1958-2016

It's just something weird/unnatural about seeing Prince 1958-2016 on the cover of magazines when I'm in a store.

I know it's mostly about selling magazines, but it has an effect on me. It's like looking at the cover of an Obituary everywhere I go to shop.

I'm still in denial. I still can't believe he's gone. Tony Bennett just celebrated his 90th birthday and still performing. I was hoping Prince would live a long life as well. sad

It is an obituary. He is gone, and you all believe it. You don't want to, but you do. You can accept it, and probably have already. The only people in denial are the mentally ill who believe JFK is stowed away in Iowa somewhere.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Yup - seeing the dates really bums people out. But why don't you put it in a thread title, anyway?

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Seeing it on Wikipedia also makes me sick. I will never get over 'was'. A couple of years ago, when Whitney first died---her being referred to in past tense on there really put me on edge. Then I would go to Prince's page and be like, "At least, we still have Prince." sad

I wish there was a law that made that combination of dates illegal so I'd never have to see them again.

The first date doesn't matter, and the last date doesn't matter. What matters is the dash. What he did inbtween those two dates.

Think about how incredible Prince's dash is. That's what I do, and it helps me.
