Man this is hard, but I will play. Keep in mind I am jaded due to growing up thru his Controversy to Lovesexy period which I do feel was his Golden Era. So I have a ton of favorites along with the last 10-15 years as well.

Ok, here it goes. I truly do love each one of these albums all in different ways.

It's not just due to how strong the material is (which is true), but these albums came out when I was coming of age and really discovering music. I even started to play the drums between Parade & SOTT period due to Prince and Shiela E. So a very profound period for me personally in regards to Prince's music.

Funnily enough, my own first Prince album was 1999, but I just about went for Lovesexy to end my list of 5, rather than 1999 to begin it. Nothing very scientific about it, and ask me again in a month and I might change my mind.... but certainly for me 1999 thru Lovesexy would be my six without having to think about it for more than a second. I know it's going for the obvious ones from the 'golden era' but for me, they ARE the best.

For example, PR has to be in it, can't think of any other album with consecutive tracks like Beautiful Ones, Computer Blue, Darling Nikki, WDC and IWD4U..

Couldn't agree more. I sometimes wonder if I think of those six as being the best because of my age at the time they were all released. I was born in '69, so 1999 thru Lovesexy perfectly span my entire teenage years. But then I listen to them and think.... no, they are just the best, period.
