Sign 'O' The Times is the definitive non-Revolution statement by Prince Sign O The Times clearly borrows from The Revolution's influence but Prince was defiantly making an artistic statement on this record, on his own terms. Which side of the fence do you reside?
A 3CD set of 'Prince And The Revolution' comprising Purple Rain (disc 1), Around The World In A Day (disc 2) and Parade (disc 3), or 'Sign 'O' The Times' (as released)? My vote goes to Sign 'O' The Times... . [This message was edited Wed Apr 2 9:15:24 PST 2003 by Anji]

How bout vs. Crystal Ball as planned in '87 instead. That would be a little more fair.

I considered evaluting Prince And The Revolution against Crystal Ball but then realised there are possibly more flaws with that stance both artistically and quantitatively. Interestingly, the votes on the 'all-time favourite album' thread were as follows: Sign 'O' The Times: 19 votes Prince And The Revolution: 13 votes This is a fair test to both parties. The debate stands...

SOTT. A better summary of what he's all about. But I really appreciate how he was searching after "Purple Rain".

Given a choice between black and white I’ll take the fruit cocktail every time, Anji.

Which album would you prefer? My vote goes to Sign 'O' The Times. I'd choose the Revolution, yes it was a tough choice but I did it But I just love Atwiad and Parade 2 much "Time is a train, makes the future the past"

I think this debate should separate the men from the boys, so to speak. Stand up, be counted!

That's a dumb question. I would take 'Purple Rain' alone over all of the rest of Prince's albums put together! ********************************************
