A New(ish) Fan: Where To Begin?

Hey everyone, this might be the wrong place to post this (and probably not the kind of new thread everyone wants to see), but I have recently gotten into the works of Prince. Thanks to my dad, I've been a casual fan since I was a young kid, but unfortunately it took his untimely passing for me to take a closer look beyond just his hits.

Anyway, I'm here to ask all of you cool and knowledgable fans for some recommendations on Prince's b-sides and rarities, basically anything not on one of his studio albums. I'm a sucker for the Revolution era at the moment, so anything he/they recorded in the mid-80's period would be a great place to start. But of course, I'm open to check out ANY songs that you guys think I should hear! If it helps at all, I'm loving "In A Large Room With No Light" right now and would kill to hear more like this.

Thanks in advance, I'll be sticking around here for a while to read up and learn much more about this musical genius.

Don't sleep on songs he wrote & produced for other artists!

For instance, Andre Cymone's "The Dance Electric" and Sheena Easton's "101" are among his very best work.

I agree with the orger above me. The Hits /B-sides is essential if you're looking for b-sides and rarities. Now for outtakes my favorite ones are:

"Purple Music"

"Electric Intercourse"

"Do Yourself a Favor"

"Turn It Up"

"All Day, All Night"

"Possessed"

"Feel U Up/Irresistable Bitch" (1981 versions, they are perfect)

"Moonbeam Levels"

Purple Music is my drug and I'm jonesin!!!!!

Thanks for the suggestions so far everyone! I should have clarified, I have been slowly building up my collection of his albums, starting with the few CDs that my dad has owned since I was a kid (The Hits/B-Sides, Batman, and The Gold Experience). As of now, I also have the following:

-Dirty Mind

-Controversy (vinyl)

-1999

-Purple Rain

-Around The World In A Day

-Parade

-Sign O' The Times (only disc 2, unfortunately)

-Lovesexy (vinyl; I have yet to listen to this)

I enjoy all of what I've listened to so far, but have really been getting into the few Revolution albums in particular. My plan is to work my way through as much of his 80's material as possible (as well as his first two albums) before moving into everything he did in the 90's and beyond. The amount of work this guy put out is overwhelming, which is why I'm asking where to begin with the unreleased material lol

try to find Dream Factory album , you'll love it's a way of life! But seriously it's one of his best unreleased projects with contributions from the Revolution!
