Is this Mayte speaking at the end of The Continental Anyone remember this early 90's Prince song, The Continental from his 3 Chains of Gold concert movie. Does anyone know if it's Mayte speaking towards the end of the song ? |

Its Carmen .check out the promo video for continental and you see Carmen laying on the bed saying the lyrics on the phone |

It's not that odd.
"The Continental" was recorded in January 1992, and the "3 Chains O' Gold" movie didn't come out until August 1994.
Prince had actually met and started working with Carmen in 1991, but by the time he was doing 3COG, he and Carmen weren't together anymore.

Well, I agree that it's not that odd... for Prince.
Just seems like a minor task to have Mayte replace Carman... I suppose given the "rock opera" theme perrhaps he saw Carman as the temptress trying to divert him from the path to Mayte.

I believe the whole concept part and the rock opera storyline and the seques etc are something that Prince conceived after he'd already recorded a large chunk of the album. So "The Continental" was already finished, mixed, ready to go. No point going back and making a change on such a minor detail.
