Respect for Prince

I learn a little more about Prince almost every day.
Some things I knew instinctively a while back but forget them, or they got covered up somehow with all the stories and opinions since 4/21.

One thing I'm realizing again today is that our Prince was a very gentle, sensitive person. He worked through a lot of stuff in his lifetime. I think he was a good person.

I really hope that people can respect him in the way he deserves.
I am speaking only for myself here, but I feel that as a member of the org, and as someone who loves him, it is my responsibility to speak about him with that respect.

I also believe that if I really love Prince, I will treat other people who love him with respect.

I like to share my thoughts with you all. I appreciate you reading them.

I agree wholeheartedly. I love honest discussion about his music, and even some aspects of his life. Some threads on this board I find disturbing and disrespectful. I ask myself how would he feel if he could read this?

Heh, I may have my jokes about him at times -- as most orgers already know! -- but I do like the man in general. I wouldn't be here so much if I didn't have that feeling of 'he my people'.

I imagine myself inside your bedroom; oh, I imagine myself in your sky.

All kidding aside, I believe in respecting P, but I've never deified P and I'm not going to be fake and deity him now.

I see nothing wrong with admiring his beauty either. The man was something to behold.

I've always respected dear Princey and I could never purposely hate on him even though he did a lot of shit I don't like lol. I might not like all of his work either (who does? It's impossible to like every single thing an artist does) but I have never gone around and made threads about his worst pictures, making fun of him or his family or people he's been associated with or claim to love him only now that he's gone whistling

I always imagine that he'll someday know what I've written here. That way I'm not tempted to write something I wouldn't want him to read. To me he is merely sleeping and will wake up again. So I fully expect to be side-eyed big-time for some of my posts here, but if anything were to make him feel disrespected or even hurt, I'd have failed miserably in my judgement. I sure hope not since I genuinely love and respect him as a person first and foremost and of course as an artist.

In my country and in particular in my family, making fun and saying silly things are signs of love and belonging. So no-one can doubt my love for P. lol cool

I couldn't agree more with the OP and comments above! Also I think being from MN and only a few years younger than him I've always felt somewhat protective and was quick to jump to his defense over the years. I wasn't prepared for the void his leaving has created in my life, but I wasn't expecting him to leave so suddenly and tragically either. I'm grateful for the threads about his beauty and don't find them tasteless at all. They made me smile and I think even Prince could appreciate the importance of that right now and would be happy to oblige smile wink drool3 grouphug

It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

I know I could be berated for thus.
I've always loved prince and admired him. Since his death this has increased tenfold. Not just because all of the charitable institutions he supported but (this is where ill be berated) how he rose above the pressures of his background. He must have innate class and dignity because the more you read his parents just seemed to put it about. I'm not being a conservative snob but God the class of this man exposed to a dickfest like jon l nelson is miraculous!

I don't think much of his parents either. To throw a 12 year old child on the street is child abuse, and his father was a real piece of garbage. His mother wasn't any better.

I think he was basically a very gentle, sensitive, kind person with an incredible capacity for joy, massive determination, and a deep sense of justice...I also think he was flawed in certain significant ways, and I pretty much don't hold it against him - although I think it caused him a lot of trouble - because I think his childhood was a horror show, and the fact he survived it as well as he did is a testament to his courage.
