I love 18 & Over but the line about the bone ranger...

Sometimes I think it's better he passed when he did instead of being in his 80s humping the stage and doing songs like this. Again, I stress sometimes...

That's fucked up and just shows how clueless you are about what you're trying to speak on. Prince stopped humping the stage and doing songs like that back in the late 90s.

Thank you... I didn't even notice that shitty comment, what a truly fucked up thing to say. Some people, man... machinegun
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

The unreleased version of "come" that was intended for the gold experience is better than the album version. I think the latter goes on for too long . I do love "18 & over" though .the video for it is hott!

Exactly! The original version of Come is haunting, monotonous, hypnotizing... Beats the album version in every possible way. And the other great thing is that, like all the great Prince songs, it can be heared in two ways: sexual and spiritual. 18 & Over is just about "boning". The video was screened before the 1995 concerts, but that's so long ago that I don't remember if it was "hott".

Come.

The Beautiful Experience TV-special version and the album version are both great. I like the darker vibe of the original and that version is special to me because I heard it first, but c'mon, the build-up of the album version is what takes the song to a new level.

"18 & Over" is just a joke track. Its enjoyable and genuinely funny to me, but it's a joke track, nevertheless.

I prefer Come (the album version) but I also like 18 & Over. But both songs are not songs I listen to very often.

I regard 18& Over as some sort of remix or extension to the song Come....much like Violet the Organ Grinder and Gangsta Glam were extensions or afterthoughts to the song Gett Off (and I think Violet was even better than Gett Off).

18 & Over sounds a bit dated because it was a reflection of that time...obviously inspired by Snoop Dogg´s cadence and style who was immensely popular in the early 90s.

-

By the way.....for those who don´t know....Prince did an incredible live rendition of 18 & Over in March 1995 at the Paradiso in Amsterdam during an aftershow. Morris Hayes absolutely killed it on the organ and Prince played some incredible jazzy sounding guitar while wearing a very short black leather jacket. And during the show he would switch between playing the golden symbol guitar and the black one.

-

Great show, great rendition of that song.

Check it out if you can.

He was on fire that night.

There is a different message between the two songs too.

.

In "Come" Prince wants to eat you.

.

In "18 & Over" Prince wants to bone you.

.

Prince's back up singing on "Come" is beautiful too.

.

For me, the difference is more about him wanting to simply fuck every bitch & the room (18 & over), vs. wanting to get ME off. The latter is of course more appealing...

Come Extended, oh yea that is the clincher for me but then again I'm a chick....

Need me some fuzzy love....and yes, I wear clear heels

This is hilarious because I was just looking at old threads about 18 & over last night and was gonna start a new one with this question lol

But anyway...I like them equally for different occasions. I would get it in to "Come" it's really great musically and sexy
"18& over" is cool but I listen to get a good chuckle. He sounds like a dirty old man tho...but I'm okay with that since I used to tell folks I wanted him to be my sugar daddy when I was like 16 eek

"Come" vs. "18 & Over" Which song do you like better and why? Oh, and are you a woman or a man?

.

I am a woman and I like the song "Come" better.

.

I don't like the female voice in "18 & Over" that keeps saying "oh yeah, this is gonna be good"

.

That's hard one there, I think its a tie for me! biggrin cool

You got it. That's exactly what it is, slated for the Come EP iirc.

I'm a man and I prefer and love "Come" a lot, so definitely prefer it to "18 & Over". Not dissing "18 & Over" though. Anyway...I love "Come" for many reasons: the vocals are perfect, his bass is funky, cool ass horns, and the whole track is just so dream like or idk how to explain it... ethereal feeling.

Purple Music is my drug and I'm jonesin!!!!!

Regarding the song "Come"

Exactly.

I love Prince's backup vocals too.

They are so beautiful, and sometimes I have them stuck in my head which is always great.

Ethereal is a perfect word to describe it.

I prefer Come. By quite a bit for all the reasons listed , also love the unreleased version. Great track. I do like 18 & Over but it's not up there with Come for me.

Yeah, minus all of the slurps, but you gotta hand it to him.

Prince kept finding new and original ways to top himself.

It is the only song I know about in the history of songs that has slurps in it. lol
