The original cover for D&P had just Prince on the front... Sticking his tongue out according to the woman that designed the hologram. She persuaded Prince not to use it and showed him a holographic she had done before. Has anyone seen this original cover photo? I'd like to see it. I've never seen it. Baby, you're a star.

What's your source for this? The booklet says: Design: Gregg Ross. Hologram by Holografx. Inspired from a photograph by Randee St. Nicholas. So... Who is this woman you're talking about? Randee? And where and when did she say this? [Edited 7/30/16 11:54am]

I read something different...
The original cover photo was the photo of Prince wearing the neon green clothing, that was before the hologram was discussed, as the WB people didn't like that photo for the cover and gave the option of the hologram, as was stated in Alex Hans book.
As a matter of fact I know the picture they were gonna use, I don't know how to post pics on this site anymore, too outdated and complicated...

[Edited 7/30/16 11:54am] This; I was WB’s new senior vp of creative services, responsible for the art department and much of marketing, and when I saw Prince’s proposed album cover—a tight close up of his face, with two fingers in front of his lips, and his tongue sticking out between them, I thought it was kind of…ridiculous.
http://recordmecca.com/ne...th-prince/ Sorry it's not a woman it's a man named Jeff Gold. . [Edited 7/30/16 12:31pm] Baby, you're a star.

i remember reading a different version of this, in a book, funny as hell. when Prince started getting defensive about his ideas, he then turned the tables and offered to dress the photographer up and said "yeah, I could make you look real good". I thought that was funny as hell.

I thought that was funny as hell. The article states: ..
.respectfully and generally about why I thought a different image might be better. He glared. At one point, he asked with incredulity ‘What do you want me to do, wear overalls like R.E.M.?’ A bit later he said ‘Maybe I should have some clothes made for you’. I was wearing jeans and a button up shirt; he was wearing lime green skin-tight pants, high-heel boots, and a day-glo green, pin-striped, see-through shirt. I read it, it's not as funny as the other anectdote, at least to me. Maybe he tamed it down but the "Yeah, I could make you look real good" just the idea of dressing some schmo up in panties and lace is funny as fuck. It was also a great way of making his point.

I think it was a woman who actually took the holographic photo, though... and I even ran across the web page of her business recently but did not bookmark it.
