Londell tweeted that he was at the Revolution's show at First Ave. I hope that means he's working to get them at the October show. Paisley Park is in your heart

So....it sounds to me that they are trying to lead people on to believe that all of these great Prince Associated acts will be performing, TO SELL TICKETS, when in reality, all of them haven't even been confirmed to participate. Deceiving fans has never ended well. Trifling.
[Edited 9/1/16 4:20am]
Well I'm not sure how this can be the case since tickets haven't gone on sale yet.
Doesn't matter if tickets aren't on sale or not yet. Its the idea of announcing acts so that the public is deceived into thinking that certain acts will be performing by the time the tickets do go on sale. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince. |

Neither Londell nor the estate announced any acts. It was a local radio station that reported on a rumor. Then Londell tweeted not to believe everything you read. Paisley Park is in your heart

I'm coming to Minneapolis (From Indiana) for the tribute weekend (starting Wednesday and driving back Sunday morning (that's the loose plan). Traveling up with my husband and 2 other couples. Cant wait to see eveyone and experience PP for the first time. Sad and excited at the same time.
I watched the Revolution performance last night and was in tears. Just not the same without him. Overall I thought it was nice/sweet. Standouts to me were Andre, Bilal and Sometimes It Snows in April & Purple Rain (in which I bawled my eyes out on both songs). I dont know how Wendy sang all the way through. And all the songs pre-Purple rain really were done well with Andre taking lead. Mountains was also fun and 1999 was cool to hear the different original voices again. Thank u Revolution for doing a proper tribute! I loved watching the whole thing, but it just was sad to see it without the real front man there I really hope the tribute is similar in that his bands play the music and maybe there are some guests doing lead here and there. But Andre was great for that and the connection is already there and he really brought the energy up. Means a lot more than big names to me. I didnt see a thread discussing this yet. Am I overlooking?
UPDATE: I watched another Revolution Tribute video from another angle (that didnt involve the person taking the video singing along (badly) to almost every song ) and it was much better than the first I had seen. Last night I just watched the only one I saw that was posted on twitter at the time. Really wish I could be there this weekend to experience myself But glad there is some live footage. The memorial tribute (if it's like this) will be really tough to watch for us all. This is really the first time we've seen his original band playing the songs that they created together WITHOUT Prince there. That's pretty tough to swallow. Hope you're travels are safe and you find someone to go with to enjoy your birthday. I'm having the same break downs. When I start crying my husband looks at me like I'm nuts. I told him I have to go to this to try to put him to rest. This has been a struggle! I just wish he had a more peaceful and painless passing with family around. It would have helped some. |

Just wishing they would release something. I don't think Londell being at The Revolution shows is an indication they will perform in Oct. I bet they don't. These 3 performances are clearly very emotional for them. [Edited 9/3/16 16:51pm] |

No Revolution No Sheila E. NO way you sell 50,000 tickets. Hopefully we know this week. People need to book flights, hotels, request days off etc etc. Does sound like a fun week up there even if the concert is a bust. |

I'm pretty sure they will sell those 50K tickets with or without them. But I agree...it DOES sound like a fun week without the concert Dance where y'are, just groove y'all.

Agreed. 50,000 is a tall order for anyone. I know Morris Day and The Time are in and Sheila is out but that means they're going to have to hustle really hard to get The Revolution. I am speculating Andre Cymone will be there. Reflecting on this concert really says a lot about Prince, his wide range and true genius in creating all kinds of music. Some people are die hard fans of the early years and The Revolution is essential, others fell in love with him during the NPG years and are less interested in The Revolution/Sheila E./The Time and there's a base looking for 3rd Eye Girl and the proteges as of late. IMO, the smart move would be to get his bands from all the major periods represented there-almost chronologically walking through his varied styles and sounds. The Revolution did it right by not trying to imitate him, they put their own style into the songs and it worked. I fear performers trying to "sing Prince" will be a disaster, no matter how popular they are. Honestly, I would be just as happy if they have the bands playing on stage live and his vocals (and videos) of him singing over the live music. No one can come close do doing his vocals justice. |

So what would you like to see. I wouldn't mind a 35 min set of Mint Condition then maybe go backwards in time. 35 min set from 3rdeyegirl, 1 hour from the NPG, 1 hour from The Time, and then finish it with 2 hours of the Revolution? That's a little over 5 hours. With set changes and what not looking at a little over 6 hours total. So a 5:30-11:30? It is a Thursday night so locals have to work. Have Prince music blasting inbetween sets or show videos. However like I said before I just don't see how this will go off without the Revolution. What would you do to fill the last 2 hours? Maybe show prince concert? |

While I think people like that should be involved I'm not opposed to having some people who he influenced there as well. It's a tribute concert and they need to fill seats. It seems pretty likely that Sheila won't be there and since the Revolution just did 3 gigs at first ave I'd be surprised if they were there, or at least surprised that they'd do an entire set. I can see them running Prince vids between sets. I would also like to have whomever is on stage say a memory or how Prince influenced their lives/music - it should be about celebrating and remembering him. I am not sure they would have a 5 hour show, that seems like a tall order - while AWESOME. Maybe 3-4hours ? but hopefully longer like you suggested. All of those whom you stated would be great, but I do hope they do something like where the band plays the music and have guests singing Prince vocals - EXCEPT FOR PURPLE RAIN - I think having Prince's vocals - and the band accompanying that live would be more fitting.
That being said, aside from the mentioned, I would like to see Alicia Keys, Janelle Monae, Bruno Mars (w/Mark Ronson would be funky), Lenny Kravitz, Stevie Wonder, and definitely Maxwell (he has the vocal range to do the falsetto justice). Hopefully they will invite like Shelby, Tamar, Andy Allo, etc as well. Dance where y'are, just groove y'all.

I could be on board with all the above metioned acts. Just have Mint conditon, then the Time then the headliners coming up to sing songs. However who is your band? Just a mix of old band members that are willing to do it?
