i Would Die 4 u

Prince why didn't you retired from touring? fit

He could have kept recording even if he didn't

want the hip replacement. music

I'm sure if he wasn't performing this could have

eased the pain some. i thought we would live

2 see him grow old.

This is something that we'll never understand! sad

Prince really died for the fans!

"I Would Die 4 U"

I'm not a woman
I'm not a man
I am something that you'll never understand

I'll never beat u
I'll never lie
And if you're evil I'll forgive u by and by

U - I would die 4 u, yeah
Darling if u want me 2
U - I would die 4 u

I'm not your lover
I'm not your friend
I am something that you'll never comprehend

No need 2 worry
No need 2 cry
I'm your messiah and you're the reason why

'Cuz U - I would die 4 u, yeah
Darling if u want me 2
U - I would die 4 u

You're just a sinner I am told
Be your fire when you're cold
Make u happy when you're sad
Make u good when u are bad

I'm not a human
I am a dove
I'm your conscious
I am love
All I really need is 2 know that
U believe

Yeah, I would die 4 u, yeah
Darling if u want me 2
U - I would die 4 u

Yeah, say one more time

U - I would die 4 u
Darling if u want me 2
U - I would die 4 u
2 3 4 U

I would die 4 u
I would die 4 u
U - I would die 4 u
U - I would die 4 u

We love and miss you Prince sad sexy

You and me are like two ships passing
Never reaching shore
If we ever, ooh, if we ever did
We'd just want more

It's a game of coulda, woulda, shoulda. Prince didn't know how to half-ass anything. He gave 110%, 100% of the time, because he truly enjoyed the work involved in his profession, and most importantly, sharing his music with the world.

He could have done many things differently in his life and possibly still be here today, but it does no good to meditate on that. He's human like the rest of us. Most of all though he was Prince, who gave 110%, and was admirably, fantastically himself to the very end, even if in some unfortunate way it cost him his life.

Am I the only one who replaces U with the word Food?

Yeah?

Oh ok.

Me to myself: All U need is me.

Reminds me of this Alan Leeds quote:

I have been fortunate enough to witness quite a few amazing talents in my career — landmark performers, singers, musicians and writers. But nobody was like Prince. Yes, the young Prince once practiced and dedicated himself to developing a skill set, but once his foundation was intact, the music, the ideas — both creative and promotional — flowed out of him like a raging river. There was no industry that was equipped to process and digest his ceaseless flow. Radio couldn’t keep up, record companies couldn’t market and promote fast enough, fans couldn’t re-focus fast enough. His songs were like a daily newspaper and he wanted them to be read while the news was fresh.

His brain never shut off. We wrestled with words to describe him — tireless, driven, obsessed, manic. But just maybe it wasn’t any of that. Maybe he was simply put here to be that funnel… to bring us the music and bring us the joy that accompanied it; to bring us the thought provoking lyrics and the effects they had on youth culture. To bring us the generosity (much of which was incognito) that supported schools, music programs, young artists, ecological issues, social movements and people of all races and walks of life.

I've watched that PR many many times and never have understood the monkey in the cup thing! Did it have some kind of meaning?

What a nice mantra! Eventually it will sink in fully. To me, that feels better than second guessing his life choices. His life choices brought him to us! If he wasn't so driven, perhaps there would have been just one or two classic albums from the 1980s and so forth.
