I was able to do a decent karaoke version of Kiss in early May because I know that song really well. Purple Rain is pretty simple...but aso easy to butcher. For example, I love Jennifer Hudson's voice, but she did some theatrics with Purple Rain that were "over the top," in my opinion. Diamonds and Pearls - pretty simple except for the falsetto at the end. Starfish and Coffee is pretty simple, but the tempo is pretty fast. With Prince's songs, there are a lot of subtle nuances so the person singing the song really has to know the song in order to pull off the performance. Be My Mirror is also a simple, beautiful song...great for kids.

many, many of them are perfect for pop music, prince was a master at simplicity. 1999, rasberry beret,let's go crazy, purple rain, when doves cry, all had simple, simple verses and chorus'. In fact, i think that's what makes some of the tributes so bad, people are trying to add too much shit into vocals that were intentionally made very, very simple, Jill Jones calls it talk-singing.

I can sing most Prince songs . I can't do Prince screams and i will add am not saying am a good singer ok. ( Only in my own mind)

yep...raspberry beret and sign o the times, i can sing in my natural voice effortlessly...songs like Breakdown or I Wanna Be Your Lover, are out of my reach...im not able to channel any falsetto stylings

Those early Prince songs are good for singing but they're sometimes a tad too high for me too. I can do most of his songs though but I tend to prefer those with Wendy, Lisa or Jill Jones in it because my voice is similar to theirs so I can sing along to the backing vocals, it's fun. I'm thinking 1999 or Anotherloverhoenyohead for example.

adore is a tougher one, i'd say generally, any falsetto song is tougher because not everyone can do falsetto. unless you sing it at a different octave, i'm speaking as a male singer though. Pop songs are generally pretty simple yet effective.
