None, because there are no songs on this album.

Well, too bad I guess. | |

+1 Love the drums and the heavy riff in the middle. Kind of Doom Metal stuff going on there

Yes. Something similar can be heard in ART OFFICIAL CAGE, during the guitar riff. I first wondered if it wasn't an interpolation from "E".

The intro to East is something absolutely unique in P's recording career. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

And why ? | |

The intro to East is great, but the first few minutes of South is one of the funkiest things he has ever done.

All of them. | |

Love this album, I seem to gravitate to East for a while now. For some reason right now this album brings me to tears. Its something I've wanted to see him play live.

I like 'em all, but East takes the cake.

I love Prince's instrumental work. All the songs are good in their own way. But I would vote for East as well. "A strong spirit transcends rules." - Prince

My favourite album. Probably North as the fav, such a brilliant start with that bass line and the flow carries on from there In this bed ice cream

There are four songs on it. North. East. West. South. I would think you would know what the OP means. This is not a legal proceeding. [Edited 7/20/16 12:48pm]

East all the way. | |

Call them tracks, but not songs.

It doesn't come close to anything else he's done: the oriental synth intro, the bass line and metal guitars and the whole tension build-up, the whole thing is insanely experimental By Prince's standards, it's the kind of thing u'd expect on a Bill Laswell or John Zorn free jazz project, not a Prince album. I remember being blown away the 1st time I heard it back then: I had never even dared to hope hearing that kind of stuff on a Prince record. I remember friends who were into mainstream being like "what the fuck is that crap" () and those who were into more edgy music being astonished to learn it was Prince. I really wanted him to do more of that back then but then it was Musicology and back to what he did. West...the guitar solo is guitar heaven I first heard it playing over the PA system on the Musicology tour and the next day I bought the cd because of that song.

Oh, I really like the symphonic idea of n.e.w.s. But since the release of this fascinating album none of it`s four movements touches me in this way than other music of this quality do this normally . What a pity with this masterpiece I have the same problems as I have for example with the late string quartets of Ludwig van Beethoven. I like them, but I don`t understand them.
I think the precurrent album EXPECTATION will help me to learn more about the real quality of n.e.w.s. In the second movement of EXPECTATION I can follow the complex jazzy theme variation which may be the key to better understanding of n.e.w.s.
This is generally one exciting thing more: Prince`s music works and works and works. It is simply evergreen! Positivity

I know of the actors but not the series (I'm guessing it's about the American civil war?) Life Matters
