Lotusflow3r by a wide margin. There's some outstanding songs, bolstered by some outstanding guitar work, and all round excellent music. I also love the instrumentals that open and close the abum. Hundalasiliah!

gandorb said: I am hearing a lot of love (or at least like)here for 20ten. This is fueling my flames to do an ebay auction for 20ten despite the high cost. Is there any other accessible and legal method of getting it here in the states other than the various auction sites? I haven't found any but it seems some of you have learned a lot more creative ways to get music than I have (I don't own any bootlegs, for example). Check discogs out. They have a lot of listings and you don't have to fight with bidding.

If I could take only 1 of Prince's albums of the past 10 years along to my banishment on a desert island (that would be my motivation to pick a favorite), I'd take Planet Earth.

3121 is my favorite followed by Lotusflow3r and AOA. Really the only album I don't like from the last 10 years is Planet Earth... Really despise that album (with the exception of Guitar and Chelsea Rodgers...). Purple Music is my drug and I'm jonesin!!!!!

Why Planet Earth? Because I enjoy the particular variety of songs on that album and their lyrical content--those songs remind me of some pleasant things. The vocal harmonies are nice and there are some cool guitar parts stuck in there. For those who love Wendy & Lisa--they are on the recording, old friends chipping in with the new. He's thrown the lynn drum back into the mix for a minute, too--a specialty of his!

I've always felt that it doesn't have that magic Prince touch like 3121 and Musicology had. It also needlessly interups the (in my opinion) natural flow from 3121 into Lotusflow3r, which is my main problem. 3121 and Lotusflow3r are always connected to me (which makes since because a lot of LF songs were recorded in those sessions).
Maybe I was a bit harsh on the album though. I agree with you about the guitar playing on the album. Imo the album would have been better if "Lion of Judah" was replaced by "The Morning After" (especially since that song was never released on cd) and make "Resolution" an instrumental. I'd also take off the song "Planet Earth" and perhaps make it a b-side, or position it differently on the album.
What are your favorites from the album?
Why aren't my paragraphs separated? It keeps clumping together. [Edited 8/3/16 4:25am] [Edited 8/3/16 4:59am] Purple Music is my drug and I'm jonesin!!!!!

Hitnrun Phase 2 3121 AOA (this album would be stronger without the affirmations and the lazer sounds.)
I like the guitar work in Lotusflower but can't get past some of the lyrics in that album and i dislike that song about Kristen Scott Thomas (nice sentiment, sappy song)
The rest of the albums are inconsistent, but HNR phase 1 and plectrumelectrum has some strong points.

I mentioned my favorite before (AOA), but didn't do a list, so here it goes: 1. AOA 2. HnR II 3. Lotusflow3r 4. 2021 5. HnR I (it is good exercise music) 6. Plectum 7. Planet Earth 8. MPLSdound
Note: 20ten is in the mail so I can't rate that one yet.

The music of the last 10 years has at times been very good. I keep thinking about putting a compilation of personal favourites together. Lavaux Valentine Groovy potential Funk n' roll $ Another love Look at me, look at you ... There are very many it's easy to overlook some classics. For me the likes of sea of everything And Laydown Have been slow growers. There are others which I could never get along with The morning after (in fact I disposed of this one for good as soon as I'd heard it) Everybody loves me. (Sounded tired, even on first listen). Million dollar...? (Too aggressive n vacuous, as an opener it really damages the album) I miss him sometimes. I also have to live most days in relentless pain, which can get in the way of being productive. I feel I can understand him living so recklessly with the use of painkillers. He was so productive and wasn't so often inclined to compromise. I wouldn't have guessed that he'd be outlived by Dylan, Keith Richards n even iggy pop... Peace. small circles, big wheels!
I've got a pretty firm grip on the obvious!

I was thinking what about Musicology but saw it over 10 years old so I am going to go with 3121, HNR 1 & 2 and AOA because Breakfest Can Wait is the truth. Love that song. Beautiful, Loved and Blessed
Thank You Prince | |

Whilst I love them all in different ways and really think Art Offical Age is a truly great Album, I decided to be a little more scientific and look at which one I actually have played the most on my player and it was actually HITnRun Phase 1. Must be that addiction to HardRockLover

I can't find disagreement with anyone's listings .
For me it's a toss up between 3121 and LotusFlow3r and then the rest in no particular order.

Hitnrun Phase 2, 3121 is great too, but now 10 years and 5 months old, making it ineligible and Planet Earth the oldest eligible. . Worst album - a tie between 21 Nights disc, Indigo nights and the Bria Valentine album. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Rankings from my list . HNR Phase 2 - 89/100 AOA - 81/100 20Ten - 78/100 Planet Earth - 72/100 Lotusflow3r -71/100 MPLsOUND - 68/100 Plectrum Electrum - 67/100 HNR Phase 1 - 61/100 Indigo nights - 25/100 . Bria Valente - Elixir - 46/100 (Not really counted) . The mark for 3121 was also 81, but this album is 10.30 years old and does not count. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

You're not. Planet Earth has some of the poorest songwriting I've ever heard Prince compile into one record. It's a consistent album. It's just so consinsently damned bland. No hooks. No riffs. Bleh.

Yep! It's like cotton candy with its sweet melodies and harmonies that go down nice and easy. Don't listen to it too much or you might get a super-rush. > BTW--the thread topic is "Favorite Album Over Last 10 Years" so those of you here griping about what albums you DON'T like are providing the antithesis to all of this goodness. Just saying!
