SONGS that remind you of Prince, post April 21 I can't seem to listen to Maxwell's "Pretty Wings" or the Alabama Shakes "Over My Head" without thinking of him Of course, I never would have attributed those to him before all this. But some of the lyrics just make me go there.

Cyndi Lauper's Time After Time
"If you're lost, you can look, and you will find me, time after time." "If you fall I will catch you; I will be waiting, time after time."
David Essex's Rock On
Hey, kid, rock 'n' roll, rock on
Switchfoot's Twenty Four -- the whole song. It's an awesome song, and one I think he would love.

First of all Pretty Wings from Maxwell (and Fist full of tears) are both two of my favourite Maxwell songs, and yes, his voice reminds me of Prince very much! that was why I was hoping and then glad that he did a tribute. I still think he would be the best suited for any Prince tribute because of that high falsetto that could do Prince's songs justice and not butcher them.
Darren Hayes music reminds me of Prince. Prince was a big idol of his (he also wrote a song called Insatiable, inspired by Prince's Insatiable, for one example). His lyrics in songs and vocal range reminds me of him.
Still really miss Prince so much Dance where y'are, just groove y'all.

I sure wish I remembered the name of the song. But I was at our annual Gator festival, and while we were resting by one of the stages, the musical group mentioned they received some news that a fellow musician of theirs by the name of CANDY, my ears perked up, had past that morning and they were dedicating this song to her. That song nearly broke me down in front of that crowd it was so pretty, my mind had completely drifted of to Prince. Funny, a lot of people that day were wear purple.

Prince Included a surprise cover version of The Waterboys' 'The Whole Of The Moon'. The song – originally released in 1985 – is long rumoured to have been written about Prince. The band have denied this but singer Mike Scott told Uncut that the sound was inspired by Prince.
Scott said: "The sound of '…Moon', its synths, which crop up almost nowhere else in Waterboys music, was me copping sonic ideas from Prince, which Karl [Wallinger, keyboards], also a big Prince fan, was able to translate. I'd turned him onto Prince, played him 'Purple Rain' in the summer of '84." Partial lyrics: Yes, you climbed on the ladder With the wind in your sails You came like a comet Blazing your trail Too high Too far Too soon You saw the whole of the moon . Just to add..this song has always reminded me of him. Prior to that day. [Edited 7/15/16 16:52pm] Baby, you're a star.

His own music. Of course :) A few weeks after April 21 I tried to listen to something else and it was actually painful. This surprised me. The next time it was better. I guess literally going through my "firsts". But I'd rather just listen to prince right now. Tonight I listened to a tribute on the UK by Larry Graham and enjoyed that though. Also found a little recent interview with him which I appreciated. My heart broke for him. He looked great but it seemed like his face was in a position of being used to crying a lot lately.

I've watched and listened to Beyonce's Lemonade album about a million times. And that's how I've mourned him. "I was served lemons, but I made lemonade.". Ever since. What?

Legacy by Fefe Dobson. I actually love this uptempo song a lot. But this past weekend I heard it for the first time since April 21st and it launched instant tears. "If I die tonight, at least I left a legacy. If I die tonight, I'm forever in your memory."
Dance where y'are, just groove y'all.

Like a lot of people, i just couldn't hear any muisc for a few weeks post April 21st. Then, after a while, i forced myself to put some music on (at this stage certainly no Prince music whatsoever). I came across La Roux, and decided to purchase her Trouble in Paradise album. When i put it on the cd player, it was going quite well. I liked her voice, and i liked the 80's feel to her songs. THEN track 4 came on....Paradise is You. Without expecting it, that song took me right back to the evening of April 21. Listen to the lyrics and I'm sure it will make it sense.

Mary J. Blige, Whole Damn Year...personal and full of truth. Though it's original intent has nothing to do with P, I could easily hear him sing it....http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x28enbh_download-mp3-mary-j-blige-whole-damn-year-itunesrip_music?GK_FACEBOOK_OG_HTML5=1

Also, 'Skinny Love' cover by Birdy.
'This Woman's Work' I don't even know who originally sang it, but Maxwell did a cover of it. I can imagine Prince singing this. I imagine myself inside your bedroom; oh, I imagine myself in your sky.

Nights of Pleasure by Loose Ends. Nothing sexual or anything about it; it is just that I was listening to Prince and Loose Ends podcasts during the first few weeks of Prince passing, and Nights of Pleasure is such a BEAUTIFUL song, it made me think more of Prince. Loose Ends, if everyone remembers, is a R&B group from England.

Oh and Signs by Bloc Party. Brace yourself if you're gonna check it out. Makes me think about him because it's about someone dying but the ending fits for me: In your life you were larger than this I see signs now all the time that your not dead your sleeping
