Got it! It would be interesting to see if a promo copy tracked on your TT. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I've opened mine. Kevin Gray did this one too.

AND I'm gonna have to send it back to Amazon. There's a cluster of scratches on the first track. They didn't affect playback but it costs me nothing to exchange it.

What are you guys doing with the Around The World In A Day sticker? Are you sticking it back on the front of the gatefold sleeve or storing it elsewhere?

It does sound damn good though....

just out of morbid curiousity... Is America on the new ATWIAD still in sync with the vinyl? By which I mean, if you have the needle skip one or multiple grooves, does the beat still continue correctly? I remember being completely weirded out when my needle was miscalibrated for weight and it would barely touch the record, thereby often skipping ahead a few grooves. The result was that the song continued without a difference musically, but the lyrics simply missed whole lines. Completely weirded me out until I figured out how that could be possible.
Would love to know if this is still the case on the new pressing. It should, but I'd rather have confirmation. Paisley Park is in your heart - Love Is Here!

Ok, I really have no clue what you're talking about (lol) BUT this isn't a repress that would use the old stampers. It's a remaster so new stampers would be made, which means whatever you're saying may not be the case (or it may because I have no clue what you're saying lol)

All of my copies of Lovesexy skipped during Eye No (they were all from Columbia House Music Club) but it was obviously just a skip/defect in the pressing.

. I don't even know how that's physically possible with analog mediums like vinyl, since the music and vocals are not separated in any capacity. Nor is there any buffering. All I can think is if the frequency range for P's vocals were etched in the lower depths of the grooves, and the needle was hovering above that level...but even that seems unlikely. Not doubting your experience, but there just has to be some weird illusion that made it seem the way it did.

. This is about BPM. The song America is by accident or design the exact speed that in one turn of the record (at 33 1/3 RPM) there will be 4 beats. Since the song is basically one chord, you get exactly one bar (=4 beats). So if the needle skips, it skips within the song by a multiple of 4 beats, ending up at the same spot in the bar, but in a different bar. That means that if your needle skips, it might skip a/some bars with some lyrics.
My question is if the same care was taken with the new pressings to keep the exact BPM of the song.
/offtopic this is also why I think Prince made that looooong extended version, so it would be forced to be 33rpm on the 12", as the regular 45rpm of 12"'s would not have this "feature". Paisley Park is in your heart - Love Is Here!

Mine was just delivered from Amazon

No, I don't think this a "feature". It's simply, as you said, an accident. Why would anyone want this to be a "feature" of their record, where entire passages could be skipped due to a defect and a person would not be able to tell? Nah, I'm not buying this theory.

. Have you met Prince? There are so many easter eggs on Prince's records and, especially in this period, he was so busy with backmasking and little things. For instance, check how the song America actually starts. . I think that it was intentional, personally. The amount of care in the small details of this album, including in artwork and the fact that the 12" mix of this song is uncharacteristically long, forcing 33RPM... . Let's ask the engineer or the Revolution, I'm sure somebody knows.. Paisley Park is in your heart - Love Is Here!
