Good point. There was hardly a lull during the transiton of one song to the next and that is a credit to Prince's ear for arrangements. Also, whenever he would speak to the crowd, he sounded engaged and in the moment. I go back to the first Oakland show of this tour. When he begins singing "Stand" by Sly And The Family Stone and he says "there's no justice anywhere-TALK TO ME FLINT!". It only makes me miss his awareness of current events and how he would interject his remarks into his music. Now whenever I hear Little Red Corvette I expect to hear Dirty Mind in the middle of it. Definitely Prince at his most intimate and most vulnerable with just him and his piano. Hope we get official releases from this tour-- his swan song. "Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."

Just like MJ had "This Is It", Prince had "Piano And A Microphone Tour". I think a documentary or a live album of a show from Prince's last tour, if commercially released would help casual fans see the musician who was funny, socially conscious, God-fearing and silly and not the guy who was always "on" for the public. 3121 #1 THIS YEAR

I was listening to one of the Oakland shows and right before I Love U But I Don't Trust U Anymore Prince makes a comment about how some people don't have the capability of self preservation and in those cases we have to help each other otherwise we could lose somebody. Hearing that comment now makes me incredibly sad. Paisley Park is in your heart

The end of November last year, I took a day off work to have a number of browsers open to buy the just about to be released tickets for the UK but much to my dismay, Prince postponed to sale due to ticket touts purchasing large amounts previous to the public sale. Then of course, the Paris bombings occurred and the European leg was cancelled. Devastated was an understatement. This tour format would have been my idea of absolute heaven and I was willing to spend a fortune to buy the best tickets available and just enjoy the genius of Prince simply accompanied with a piano and a microphone. I will forever be sick to my stomach that I was not able to witness these shows and from hearing some of the audios floating around, it would of been such a beautiful experience to see him so open and intimately engaged with his audience. I now only have deep hope that these shows will be properly released, audio and video.

motherfunka said: I've seen Prince a ton of times, but this was definitely his most personal. I saw the 2 shows at Paisley Park and they were great. He must have been toying with the format he would tour with. The 1st show is my favorite. He went through songs chronologically and was telling stories or making comments about the songs throughout. Starting from his childhood through 1988. I couldn't believe how much he was talking. The 2nd show was more loose and was not chronological at all, with new and old songs. He obviously chose the 2nd show as the format. Both of these shows were professionally filmed. I would love to see them be released. He played us the first 30 minutes of the 2nd Atlanta show at the last party. He said that was the best show so far and he was going to release it after he did a few more shows and cleaned up the recording to take out the screams from the audience. I love hearing about how proud he was of the Atlanta shows. I was at both shows in Atlanta. The second show is indescribable! I hope the professional recordings are released soon. The world needs to see/hear what we experienced that night. "Everybody's looking 4 the answers. How the story started and how it will end. What's the use in half a story..." 0(+>

Something else about Prince that I think is a cut above the rest is the way he segues between songs. I think he did it better than anyone. And with the P&M shows he could go from Little Red Corvette to Dirty Mind to Linus and Lucy back to Little Red Corvette and make it sound like they were all designed to go together. Brilliant. I still get chills thinking about how beautifully he transitioned between Somestimes It Snows In April and his Purple Rain medley in Atlanta. I can't let go of how struck I was when he changed the PR lyrics to "Its such a shame this friendship will never end." I feel so blessed to have been at the shows in Atlanta. I will cherish that night until I leave this world! This is a great discussion! I started a similar thread before finding this one - http://prince.org/msg/12/431257. The Oakland Show on the first night is most interesting to me because he talks about his childhood, his parents, how the assassination of President Kennedy symbolically affected the aspirations of his parents vision for their future. Also, how Prince mentioned Lee Harvey Oswald and how he framed his name with today's goings-on with Flint. I would love to read people's thoughts about Prince the performer relating these stories and how far he would have gotten into the tour had he lived. Even post your favorite pictures of Prince from this era. Could you just imagine if Prince took the Piano And Microphone Tour for a multiple night stand at Madison Square Garden or The Forum in Los Angeles. My favorite picture from the tour.
stinasings - Agreed. I had a strong sense that I was seeing him for the last time during the Atlanta shows. At the time, I just thought he was walking slower than he used to and that he might retire from touring (and finally mean it). Of course I now know that he indeed said goodbye to us that night. I am beyond overjoyed that I am blessed with delicious memories that once in a lifetime night! [Edited 8/27/16 11:22am] "Everybody's looking 4 the answers. How the story started and how it will end. To be honest, when the Australia shows were announced I didnt think too much about it and thought I would go to one show, the whole concept didnt catch me as Im more of a rock and roll, smoke and loud band playing type of guy.
Well, ended up going to three of them, and to this day I have to say that you cant even compare them to any previous tours and Ive been to a few. These shows had no distractions, if you closed your eyes while you were there and just listened to his voice, that was enough.
Have to say the sound quality in the State Theatre in Sydney was amazing.....so yes the tour was his most interesting for me as it showcased him as never before seen or heard. "Prince don't know how many hits he got"

I listen to Indifference from the 2nd show in Atlanta a lot. I liked the song before, but I love the way he did it that night. He sang it so passionately. They cut the playback at Paisley Park after Dark! (oh I just read that again and I didn't mean PPAD, but Dark the song) TRUE BLUE

Someone who also attended the show said he pretty much gave up faith on this planet I think someone on here who said that I would love to know more details what he meant... I kind of understand what he felt and PRince was all about bring people together and he did his way in music.
But yeah he was doing a lot of reflecting during those P&M shows. He also did things out of ordinary even for him during the last few months when he was alive.
Man I miss this man everyday. He and i were so much alike in many ways. It felt like he was another human being that got me and would had understood me. He was the voice for us outcasts who grew up in more traditional enviroments. He taught me a lot of lesson of how to feel comfortable in your skin.

I was so counting on seeing this tour. And getting friends and my lady to go.
My sadness at Prince being gone is ways of different kinds of depth. But it's pretty deep these days, and always shading things.
Anyway, I hope the tourbook pre-order comes through. I keep getting emails that it's in limbo. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

She talked about him so fondly. http://www.podcasts.com/t...-on-vanity [Edited 7/15/16 21:29pm] Again a Vanity connection.....very sweet Love the pics posted!! He looked so fine

It was almost the same here when tickets for the planned Vienna show should go on sale. I have been so ready to go there at any cost. Like you I really hope now for a proper release. "I'm not a human, I am a dove. I'm your conscious, I am love"

I didn't see it but listening to it is sublime! His voice is in such great form which is amazing given his health, his piano playing dynamic and artistic, his song choices spectacular and mostly not the Billboard hits, and his banter with the audience so engaging and open. Just writing this is making me tear up, because listening to it now is bittersweet though definitely worth it. The fact that he was in the midst of an artistic peak when he died is a great way to go if it's your time, but man, it just magnifies our loss. On the other hands, I am so glad that on his last tour he wasn't just rotely going through the hits. So,
