2020 unreleased song with Mayte Just a question about 2020. I just recently discovered this unreleased song (if you can call it that). More like a reprise. I love it. It's so haunting and beautiful. I could listen to a 4 hour version of it (call me crazy). At least the version I heard was only 2 min. I know PrinceValult said it was supposed to be on Emancipation but got pulled, but does anybody know if there was a longer version? Was this part of a unreleased video/film project or anything else you can tell me about it. Just wondering because I've been obsessed with how hauntingly beautiful and innocent Mayte's voice is on it, but it's so short it makes me want more. "Put on your boots Alfred...let's go!" |

I just listened to it on YouTube. What I am trying to figure out is how someone posting as "Prince Unreleased Music" got hold of that recording. The music is beautiful. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the lyrics of the song. I'm a visual person and I often need to read the lyrics in order to really understand them, especially since I am prone to mishearing/having a hard time deciphering lyrics. Both Mayte and Prince's vocals are very pretty though. Live 4 Love ~ Love is God, God is love, Girls and boys love God above |

That track leaked years ago so I doubt it was very difficult for them to get hold of... |

i've always loved this one. it's so atmospheric. it would have been a nice opening track, a sort of ethereal prelude and a thematic introduction to emancipation.

LYRICS:
The year is 2020 And in the club - Love4OneAnother Students dance 2 the heartbeat of the drum
3000 or more dance on the dance floor Same aesthetics - everyone Taste the color, smell the fun
The force of nature is what brought us here The walls between us soon all disappear The year is 2020 and there's no more fear
Can U see this? (Mm hmm) Peace and happy people (Mm hmm)
____
To me it is about invisioning a Utopia where eveyone loves one another and maybe even all "look similar" (not literally, but maybe no one seeing color..IDK). All dancing to the beat of one heartbeat. No more fear.... wouldn't that be a lovely concept. So much fear of each other these days and that's sad. Wish we could all let go of fear and just love each other, which is what really matters. I would love to go/live in this Prince Utopia! Who's with me? [Edited 7/13/16 13:32pm] "Put on your boots Alfred...let's go!" |

That's great! I was just talking about this to my husband. That some people can see taste or hear colors or "see" sounds, etc. and I heard someone close to Prince say that he could do that. I thought it was so interesting. I saw a documentary or special on this year's ago (like 20/20 or something...ironically) and they interviewed people that have the condition and it has always facinated me.I believe it was Van Jones that said it. Thank u for the clarification on the lyrics. π "Put on your boots Alfred...let's go!" |

Holy crap, me too!
I wonder when he hears music if he can see colors. I can always see colors and I see pictures & visions.
If a song reminds me of the color Pink it was usually be upbeat & if the song is upbeat I usually see a nice hot pink color and I feel a little warmer.
Some songs remind me of the color brown. βΏIt's only mountains and the sea.

I've always liked this track too. It reminds me of the scene in Graffiti Bridge where there's just a handful of people dancing (to Elephants and Flowers iirc?) not musically but the lyrics give the same imagery, that Prince is aware of his dwindling audience at the time but is more concerned with quality than quantity (at least in the song!) Any way, I've always liked it, nice little oddity.

This song is another example of Prince and his love of metaphysics. As with a lot of his music, he is a talking about a time where time does not exist, where the walls keeping us from the truth are now broken down, a transition has occured on the planet bringing us into the 4th dimension where the past, present and future are one, and where communication is telepathic and instant. There is no more fear because the veil has been lifted and we are now one with all, including our creator.
He mentions a similar time on the Art Official Age album on the song Clouds when he wakes up from his sleep, and communication is now telepathic, time does not exist, everything is one, and there is nothing to fear.
This is a VERY common theme throughout his music.

Yes. And I love that about him. Listening to his music almost takes you to a different world (in your mind). I felt like he was alway trying to teach us the things that he already understood and knew. "Put on your boots Alfred...let's go!" |
