This. I spent a small fortune a few years ago amassing my collection of 12" singles on vinyl, but I don't regret it for a second. I ripped all of them, so I have digital copies that sound way better than any commercial non-LP stuff.

If you don't mind not having the physical 12's then just get "T's 12 inch Archive," it's got all the classics you need. 6 discs with stuff from the very early 94 East up to and including stuff like TGRES, all in chronological order. There are other collections of the 12 inches out there but this is the best imo.

My absolute favorite is the extended version of "Paisley Park". The two guitar solos that bookend the song was INCREDIBLE. It's one of the few songs I'm always in the mood to listen to, even though it's 5+ minutes long. If you haven't heard it, go find it and listen.

I don't even like the album version. Like green eggs and ham I do not like IWD4U from any view. Always liked every track on Purple Rain except IWD4U and Baby I'm a Star. All else is golden, although long ago tired of the title track from overexposure. We should do another thread of all the tracks that SHOULD have had, that screamed out for extended versions. New Position and Stare for example.
