Newbies? I've been here longer than you. But other than that, you're on point and dead on and you added a great deal to this thread. Thanks for sharing!

Who cares. Prince's true Friends bought all his stuff already when it originally came out.

You care. You commented on this.

How about all his "friends" who weren't old enough to buy the music when it came out?

Calm down - I didn't mean you as the newbie. I meant the other person. I doubt you've been here longer than me as I've been here (under another org name) since it's inception. Anyway, sorry for the misunderstanding. I should've been more clear.

The 4 million total was albums and songs sold in the US in the first week following his death. Worldwide numbers are clearly higher, as are the cumulative sales to date.

Not sure where anyone got hte idea Ultimate would be the #2 album of hte year when VBOP has been the best seller.

She provided a link. nuts

it seems recordsales are only important to Princefans when Prince is doing great in/on those sales lists...? biggrin

Like Purple Rain the album being at the #1 spot for 24 weeks , back then ages ago...

That makes us proud, right..?

and now, when Prince is doing bad on the lists... then these are not important at all, anymore,

wow, whay a strange coincidense... lol lol lol

--/ You know he has died??? What difference do the charts make now? I also never will understand how people expected him to have this great chart run if a quarter of the catalog can't be played on the radio and the last 20 years he put out music which automatically will not get AirPlay. At the end of the day Prince had a incredible diverse catalog. I feel sorry for anyone that misses out on it because you did not hear it in the radio.

Does it matter they are both greatest hits packages and some people seem to think orgers are pulling this info out of ass when that is not the case.

It's not Ultimate, that's the point.

I've been keeping up with the sales since his passing...

After 2 months on being in the TOP 50, The Very Best Of Prince just fell out of the TOP 50... It did manage to sell almost 1 million copies in the U.S. alone which is awesome!

Too many newbies I fear who see things were none exist.
