Prince's Sprained Ankle

I just found out Prince sprained his ankle during a concert around 2001. Any pictures of him on crutches or anything? Read that he was immediately in pain right after tripping over a fog machine.

I just looked this up a couple of days ago! No photos, as I'm sure Prince would never allow that! But it was 26 Sept 1998 in Atlantic City. I did a newspaper search but there were only brief reports like below and i can't link as it was through my academic subscription. It's also noted on princevault. see below

Prince concerts off: [First Edition]

Sunday Mercury [Birmingham (UK)] 04 Oct 1998: 51.

THE Artist Formerly Known As Prince has postponed the remaining dates of his US concert tour because of a sprained ankle he suffered after he fell off the stage during a show in Atlantic City .

His opening act, Chaka Khan, also slipped and fell during her set but sustained no serious injuries. Both blamed a wet floor, caused by condensation from an over-active fog machine.

During Delirious Prince injures his foot and is forced to postpone upcoming shows in Cleveland (29 September), Concord (4 October) and Inglewood (6 October)

I looked this up as there was a post on another thread recently where they mentioned they remember a concert in Cleveland in the 90s being canceled due to a hip injury. The poster was speculating on surgery taking place back then in the 90s and worried he was already back 3 weeks later doing splits at the rescheduled show! This all seemed a bit odd, whereas it makes sense it was 'only' a sprained ankle.

Not sure if the youtube video is still up but it was really intersting. It had a whole lot of footage of Prince mishaps. Whether it was lyrics or falls, there were enough examples for a pretty long video montage. I will see if I can find it.

I remember this when it happened and firmly believe this is the exact point in which Prince never did the splits again in concert.

if it indeed happened in the 90's then that's not true, he did plenty of splits on the eve of 2000. I heard that he broke, not sprained his ankle in the mid 90's. of course, he may have injuured himself again in the 00's or later, i do recall someone on here saying that his doctors instructed him "no more dancing" unfortunately, he didn't listen, if that's true.

Imagine saying that to Prince. You know it's not gonna happen.

TOMEEBOY

Was at the show...this is what I remember....It was at the TRUMP Marina in Atlantic City and it was the night after he played Madison Square Garden in NYC. As everyone knows...the two shows were totally different....MSG old school Prince.....Atlantic City show ....Greatest Hits all the way around....My wife and I had second row seats on the side of the stage and actually witnessed him trip.....didnt look bad, however the show ended soon after...rather abruptly. I remember waiting around thinking his encore was coming...never happened. Heard about the ankle injury a few days later when it was leaked to papers that he actually went to the hospital to get treated in Minneapolis.......Seems like yesterday.....Gone To Soon! #RIPPrince
