I find myself most interested by far, in

Prince's last 5 or 10 years.

The last few months even.

As recent as possible.

Why? Because I ant to know who he became. Who he grew into. After all that was said, done, sung, etc...after all the lessons, the marriages, the love, the mistakes, the successes.

What did he learn through his experience?

In fact, I want to know who he is now. Now that he has transcended and is a spirit among us.

i agree, i think he may have been on the cusp of a paradigm shift that AOA foreshadowed. he was always good at expressing ideas in a kind of "pan-spiritual" way (although a little more narrowly on The Rainbow Children), and as a nonreligious but often joyful and sensitive person, i really loved and appreciated that.

that said, i was delighted to encounter what i took to be Buddhist concepts in the last Affirmations in AOA. granted, we have some Biblical references in What it Feels Like, so i do not believe he was necessarily leaving anything behind, more likely just adding to the spectrum. (that is, if i am correct in my interpretation - what's great is it's something we can all appreciate in different ways - that pan-spiritual thing again.) heart

but i wish so much he could have finished his memoirs. bheart

Me too. I'm interested in where his spirit has transcended and his thoughts before he left us. I'm looking forward to reading some things attributed to him on one of his former websites now that they're open & available. I haven't gotten to AOA yet but plan on it soon.
He's not here, but still very near

I think that's why I much prefer his later albums to his earlier ones. I like the earlier ones, but the later shows how's he's grown musically, and possibly as a person. He wasn't that 20 year old sex obsessed kid anymore. It was still present, but it didn't consume him as it used to.

I'm interested in the airplane experience and how he felt those last three or four days. If he saw anything on "the other side" in the plane.

I know what you mean but a part of me still delights in the old naughtiness. Lol. I used to love being shocked by just how bad he could be and what he could get away. It still makes me smile. But what I've been interested in more over the past 5+ years has been his intellect & lifestyle & spirituality and how it (would've) informs his artistry.

That' just it -- he was still naughty, just much more subtle with it. biggrin

Indeed! I find the new stuff way, way sexier and more seductive than the early stuff. Sexy certainly never left! cool

I just recently created an account on the org. I've been on here prior to April and every day since the 21st but just created an account. I decided it was time when I had to buy an international data plan for my iphone so that I could keep up with what was happing during a trip to Scotland.

I have been looking for a certain discussion but have not seen it. I have watched alot of videos since the 21st. There is one (recollection is that it was a piano tour, so very recent) where he said "Are you ready for a new story? The old one isn't working anymore." Did anybody see that or did I dream this? He was the only person I wanted to see in concert and I am very sad that I missed him. So I don't know if he said that often during a show or not. I didn't see it in any other videos that I watched. If I didn't dream it, I wonder where he was going with this.

Nothing compares 2 U

I believe he said this at one of his concerts after Vanity died...meaning, the old story, i.e. The Purple Rain story n the Vanity connection was over forever because she was gone...So he was saying he needed a new story..

Yes. I have found it more comforting lately to listen his recent music rather than older stuff.

Welcome, Ceilidh! The only video that comes to mind is one entitled (on YouTube) Prince The Work pt. 1 Alladin ... check that one out .. if that's not the one, the lyrics in that song are similarly themed

Show your heart to me.
