Sex And Candy - Marcy Playground

Stop Draggin' My Heart Around - Puddle Of Mudd

I See The Want To In Your Eyes - Conway Twitty

Livin' On A Prayer - Bon Jovi

Champagne Supernova - Oasis

Who Will Save Your Soul - Jewel (I think his version would TRUMP her version thoroughly.)

Bittersweet Symphony - The Verve

I think he would do ANY slow Nirvana song justice.

Under The Bridge - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Dani California - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Prince should RE-DO the Celebrity Skin album by Hole. (Courtney Love).

I just KNOW this would be wonderous! <3

Shakedown Street - The Grateful Dead

Most definitely--their funkiest song--and would have been perfect for P.

Interestingly enough--on the recent Day of the Dead tribute (59 tracks covered by modern artists), The Unknown Mortal Orchestra do a cover of this song--Very much, in the style of Prince.

The closest I'll come to hearing it...

Not really a song as such but an album of Jazz type standards kinda like the One Nite Alone Piano style where he's singing like Good Morning Heartache, For All We Know, God Bless the Child, A House is a not a Home etc. that would have been cool. Also if he did like the Great American Songbook series like Rod did where he sings standards. I think that would have shown folks how multi-dimensional as an artist P was too.

Great choice! I play that song a lot live and it really is funky. And that UMO version DOES sound like how Prince would have done it!

Give Me One Reason and Baby Can I Hold You by Tracy Chapman

Kiss From a Rose by Seal

One More Night by Phil Collins

Never Going Back Again, The Chain by Fleetwood Mac

Walk On, In A Little While by U2

Knights in White Satin (God, I can't remember who this is by.)

I would have said Crimson and Clover, but he did sing it on Ellen -- I want to buy that one, it was great. It help that Crimson and Clover is one of my favorite older songs. biggrin

It's "Nights" in White Satin and it's by the Moody Blues, and no I wasn't born yet but I still love that song. I am sure Prince would have done a wonderful version of it. nod

Oh yeah. It is Nights. For all of my childhood, I would call it Knights, though. I don't even know why. lol

"Still A Thrill" by Jody Watley. The song has such a Prince-like sound. I would have loved to him sing it. But Andre Cymone was her producer, so that's probably where the Prince sound comes from.

Sweet Sticky Thing by the Ohio Players and in all the parts where the sax solos he instead shreds on guitar. How hot would that have been?

"Maggot Brain" - Funkadelic

"Higher" - Mali Music (I was just thinking about this the other day, in fact. Prince would slay the falsetto harmony on that chorus. He'd turn that song OUT!

"Keep It Hot" - Cameo. So funky and the bassline is addictive.

"That's the Way I Feel About Cha" - Bobby Womack. I'd love to hear the harmony and guitar on that. Gorgeous song.

"Pink Matter" - Frank Ocean. He'd give that song a proper workout.

"Lying in the Hands of God" - Dave Matthews Band. Yeah, I know he'd never touch this one if he were still with us, but still...it's an intrigung thought.

If he's already done any of these songs, I've never heard them. Please let me know!
