Prince and Non-Disclosure Agreements

Prince famously required just about everyone around him to sign non-disclosure and/or confidentiality agreements. Do those agreements survive his passing, or did they expire with him?

Thats what I would like to know. Guess it depends on how they were written. He must have had them printed in bulk quantities. I saw an interview by Mayte where she brought it up. If he didn't have them worded to extend after his death, I expect books soon.

It's unrealistic to have the extend past his death. These experiences aren't just his - they belong to the people around him. Obviously there is no enforcement or legal appeal to them at this point, because everyone from Steve Parke to Femi have been commenting and telling stories, all of which are great to hear.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Protected himself from what, exactly? He could have squashed 100% of the rumors about his life, if he'd just spoken up about things, or let someone else speak. Non-disclosure is often times to protect intellectual property or the like (eg: movie shooting schedules, negotiations, board room minutes, etc). Not being able to talk about how you drove to McDonald's in Prince's BMW on a Thursday a control issue.

Prince is not the only celebrity to have non-disclosure agreements. Diana Ross is famous for hers and I would think most celebrities require it of personal assistance and those who work closely with them.

Not too far-fetched and indeed is standard.

Because of their half-baked mistakes, we get ice cream, no cake; all lies, no truth; is it fair to Kill the YOUTH ~~ Party Up

Yeah, I've signed one of those a few times doing PR for shows with this US guy, not music-related. Seems pretty standard.

More than just business associates had to sign them...

After seeing some of the crazy stuff posted here, I really don't blame him.

We've been some of the most loyal people. If you look at some people's FB pages though...people whom were closest to him...he surely had to make some calls...or others said something for him.

i understand him because I'm just like him. You can't keep that channel open if you're dealing with being messed over by everyone

Then I really don't want to see the rest. Phew.. Most here are loyal, but there's enough craziness going around to warrant good non-disclosure agreements.

There are certain celebrities who have required signed NDAs at parties at their homes. It is not unusual, from what I understand.
