What's your favorite quote of Prince's - non-lyrically?

And why? Please add date of quote if you can.

I like this one: during the 1999 Larry King interview, Larry asks Prince how he resolves within himself bad things happening to him. Prince's answer is:

"I learn from it. And I don't wallow in it. I don't spend time in a place. I let myself move on, you know?"

That one where he wa on the radio with.. Egypt, I think her name was, and they got a text asking him if he was seeing anyone at the time.

He was like, "Well, I see you right now, and Morris, and a couple other people in the studio at the time, and the Manhattan Skyline."

I about died laughing. It was like,"Translation, nonya bidness."

Also the part where she asked him about the Sherri Shepherd thing, and he was like,"Oh, god, don't remind me."

Also, that German (I think it was a German host.. ) asked him if he could explain how he viewed sex ( I think it was something about how sex and spirituality entertwined or something). He was like,"I can."

The host: "Will you?"

Prince, quite happily: "NO!"

Perhaps paraphrasing it, but anyways: "Some men don't know how to listen [to women]." I love him for acknowledging the gender problem this world has had and also for having done so much for women - as a man.

It's the quote I use with my responses (see below). I believe I read it in one of his interviews with Rolling Stone many, many years ago. I even have it framed and hanging in my stairwell. It gives me strength to push forward and not let my flaws slow me down from achieving as close to perfection in all I do and all I can be.

Welcome home class. We've come a long way. - RIP Prince

Oh, that's an easy one. "Albums still matter. Like books and Black lives." I was floored when he said that. So quietly. And SO profoundly.
No-one else could understand you, you're too complex. They say nothing's perfect, but they don't know you...

I need love and water, just like everyone else.

.

On BAD to Chris Rock 1998 "The first line in that song was Your butt is mine, I don't know who he is singing that line to, but he sure ain't singing it to me!"

.

On being told by Oprah that some fans thought he may be gay "Whatever floats the boat"

My fav is when he was on Much More Music in 2004 being interviewed and the guy on the street was filmed asking "What is Prince's version of real music?" and you see Prince sighing and he says..." LAWD!...Do You have a concert ticket?" The audience starts clapping and Prince says "That's not nice...That's narcassistic and arrogant..he then looks straight into the camera and says "Come to the concert!" That whole segment never fails to make me just die laughing!

I'm totally going to butcher this so please correct me if anyone knows the exact quote. He was asked if he had any regrets and he answered something along the lines of "When you pull out a piece, the structure falls". I thought that was so profound and so very true. I just saw this in an interview recently and it escapes me at the moment.

From now on, 4 U I shall be wild 💜

I'd have to pull out the CD to tell you what it's on, but it's a Gold Experience bootleg concert...he's talking about sex and reminds everyone in the audience that "It's only dirty if you dont wash up." One of my all time fav Prince moments...

Make it so, Number One...

I'm like this. My music is my music. That's pretty much what you came to
the party for. If I give you something else, that's me giving you something
else. If you seek something else, then there's something inside of you
that's lacking, I would think. Prince~
