First: Atlanta Omni, "LoveSexy" tour, October 14,1988 - I was 17 yrs. old
Last: Atlanta Fox Theater - "Piano & A Microphone" tour, April 14, 2016 - I am 44 yrs. old

(My first could have been in Jan. 1985, Atlanta Omni "Purple Rain" tour-stop: I stood in line for hrs at the "wrecka stow", only to have them sell out before I secured tix; my mom got tix for me when a 3rd show was added and planned to surprise me with them, but my step-father wouldn't allow it, saying the concert would be too risqué...haven't fully forgiven him for that neutral.)

First - Montreal Forum, 29 March 1993. Last: well, the last time I saw him play live was June 6th 1997, at Place des Arts in Montreal. Later that night, the morning of June 7th, after several hours of waiting at a small club across the street, I got word that they were beefing up security on the second floor. I went up and a few minutes later two enormous bodyguards walked into the room, and there he was. The crowd - maybe 50 people up there - were stunned silent. Some of us went "woo woo!" and he gestured with his hands with a little smile: "calm down, no need to make a fuss." There was a moment - what was going to happen next? There was nothing set up for him to perform. (Some members of his band, I remember Michael Bland, had been at another small club across the street earlier, and there hadn't been any band set up there either.) My brain echoed emptily, with a total vacuum as to conversationl gambits (he was standing about ten feet from me and about ten or so other people pressed against a small crowd-control fence, about waist-high; he was standing his back against the wall facing us. One bodyguar stood at his two o'clock position facing him and the other stood facing us. Prince sort of looked us over silently for 30 seconds or so. Then he whispered to the bodyguard facing him, and they left. I went home after that, it must have been four in the morning. It was shocking to see him out of his "element" - it's as if he'd committed uncountable acts of public lewdness with the entire theater across the street just a few hours before, left us all reeling, and here he was, a normal, if extremely compact and nattily dressed human being. The whole thing was funny - the Imp of the Perverse across the street, and here, in "normal life".... he was STILL the same mysterious person. And he too seemed to find that amusing, until he found us boring and moved on to greener pastures! Like in that New Girl "Prince" episode, it took few several days to get my bearings after this. Like decompression, or depression, or something. The entire evening was such a high. (I had also won sixth-row center tickets to his show by singing Diamonds and Pearls on CHOM radio.)

Lovesexy Tour. yes Sunday, November 6, 1988, Los Angeles, CA. Apollonia was in the audience, and tried to get in under the stage before the show. (Psst, boo. He wasn't there.) She didn't get in.

I sat just up in the fixed seating, to right center. If Sheila was at her drums facing forward, I would have been at her 2:30 o'clock spot. It was quite close, and a great spot.

It was the most amazing show I'd ever seen. The pure spectacle of it, the intermission, the evil vs. good theme throughout. THE CAR. Thanks to that Dortmund VHS, I will never, ever forget it.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

December 1981, Controversy Tour in Dayton, Ohio with Zapp and The Time. 9 years old.
January 21, 2016 Paisley Park, Piano & Microphone. 44 years old.

I technically saw him on January 23 at Paisley where he did a sampler set.

He was a huge part of every single day of my life in between and that continues today. It is weird, but he might be an even bigger part of my daily life now.

Lol benni, I was at that Collinsville, Illinois concert too. I thought that one was strangely promoted because it just called the concert "The One" on the site I found out about it on. Also, wasn't that like the strangest venue ever for a Prince concert? It was like a convention center and not very big at that. I remember waiting in line and Morris Hayes came walking along talking to the fans. I askedin him if he would give Prince a special request to play "Days of Wild". But I somehow knew I wouldn't hear it. Had a great time anyway though!

Yeah, he was billed as The One at that show. Considering it was my first Prince concert, I remember being confused by that and asking my then boyfriend about it, he just said, "It's Prince being Prince." We broke down on the way to the venue, had to push the car along side of the highway and to a gas station, then walk the rest of the way to the venue. We got there early enough that I was at the front of the stage. The venue itself kind of bothered me, because it was general admission (and was small!) and when he called for dancers to come on stage, the crowd started pushing forward (of course) but right beside me was a young girl (around 11 or 12) and her grandmother. I put my arms around both of them, and grabbed the bars in front of the stage, locked my legs, to hold the crowd back from squashing the two of them.

I didn't know any of the lyrics to the songs he played that night. But it was kind of funny, because one song he did I remember doing the Charleston to it (it fit!), and he kind of did a double take when I did it. lol If I'm not mistaken, it seemed like at one of the Atlanta concerts he commented that someone needed to be doing the Charleston during one of the songs. eek So because of that, I guess it kind of came full circle for me from that first concert when I did do the Charleston, to that last concert when he said someone should be doing Charleston. Hmmm, he knew I was going to be at the Atlanta shows, and I'd reported previously (many many years ago) about having done the Charleston at the first concert and him doing a double take. Wonder if he read that, remembered it, and that's why he said that??? eek lol (yeah, right) But I did have a blast that night! (I couldn't hear properly for a few weeks, was in front of the speakers stage left through that concert so my hearing was like I was listening underwater for about a month, but it was still fun!)

Last time: juli 15th 2013, night 3 of his last appearance in Montreux, Switserland

I was born in 1961, you do the math lol

I used to go to all Prince shows in the Netherlands (seen him about 50 times) and, when convenient, to shows abroad as well, but I didn't like 3rd eye girl very much, so I didn't go in 2014 and 2015. He should have been here in the Netherlands on december 5th 2015 with the piano and microphone tour, but that got cancelled in the wake of the Paris attacks. I had planned to go to that show sad .

Last, crushed in the queue outside Electric Ballroom, 2014. Old enough to have a fucked back the next day. lol

Then loads of great shows in between.
